Draw Near
“But as for me, how good it is to be near God! I have made the Sovereign Lord my shelter, and I will tell everyone about the wonderful things you do.” Ps.73:28
The beauty of having a personal walk with God and being in a relationship with God is that you get personal revelations of who God really is. Meaning, you get to know who God really is for yourself. It is one thing to know about someone but it is another thing to know the person. Just like it is one thing to know about the governor and it is another thing to know him personally. Similarly, in walking with God, to know about God is one thing but knowing God personally is a totally different experience. Knowing God opens you up to personal revelations about the person of God Himself. Revelations that cannot be taught only experienced. I pray that this births in you a desire to come into personal contact with the Maker of the heavens and the earth. David walked closely with God but you will discover that the beauty of having a relationship with God is there is always a deeper level than the one you are on. Take our relationships with people for instance, what you know about your friend in one month of close friendship cannot compare with that you will discover in one year of close friendship.
David said, “The Lord is my shepherd; I have all that I need”. You can know that God heals but knowing God as your healer is a totally different thing all together. As a child of God, if you have not had to trust God for healing, you may not know Him as your healer. However, there are certain things you go through in your pilgrimage on earth where you have no other option but to turn to God. When you have experienced a personal touch from God, it personalizes the person of God in your life, one nobody can take away from you. It took Mara for the children of Israel to experience God as their healer [Please read Ex.15:22-27]. David’s life experiences can be likened to a rollercoaster; in the wilderness, on the field shepherding sheep, killing Goliath, and on his way to the throne through a life and death battle with Saul. However, what made the difference for David in this roller coaster of a life was his personal relationship with God. And borne out of being in a personal relationship with God through all those experiences, David could say the Lord is my shepherd [emphasis added]. God was to him all that he had tried to be to the sheep and much more. You need to take your walk with God seriously. No one can walk with God for you. When you walk with God you get revelations of who God is as you go along.
Prayer: Father, as I draw nearer to You, reveal Yourself to me and draw near to me also just as You have promised in Your Word, in Jesus Name.
