God Wants You

“Though the rain comes in torrents and the floodwaters rise and the winds beat against that house, it won’t collapse because it is built on bedrock” Matt.7:25

God allows the pain you have experienced in the past, or the pain you are currently experiencing, and perhaps the pain you might experience in the future for a purpose. However, many of us get too engrossed in the pain and allow it to make us bitter. Whereas God is saying ‘the pain is supposed to draw you closer to Me’. God wants to use the pain for your good. You have been hearing that God is a Provider [Jehovah Jireh], God wants to reveal this dimension of Himself to you experientially. “And we know that God causes everything to work together for the good of those who love God and are called according to his purpose for themRom.8:28. You are guaranteed that all things are working for your good, even pain, when you have a personal walk with God. But sadly, for people who do not have a personal walk with God, the painful experiences can and will destroy them.

In Matthew 7:24-27 [please read], Jesus gives us an analogy of two buildings, one built on the rock and the other built on the sand. The same ‘pain’ hits both houses “…rain comes in torrents and the floodwaters rise and the winds beat against…” both houses. One house remained standing and the other house collapsed. The difference in both scenarios is God, the Rock in their lives. You need to draw closer to God because therein lies your safety both in this world and in the world to come. Heaven and hell are very real. Unfortunately, many of us have turned God, His Church, Pastors and even Jesus into vending machines. Meaning we only go to God and His representatives only when we have problems but when the problems go, we go back to our normal routine until another problem arises. We are now treating God, the Church, and Pastors as though they are for solutions only. That is not God’s model; God wants you to have an ongoing relationship, a fellowship with Him when He can reveal even the things that are yet to happen to you. “However, when He, the Spirit of truth, has come, He will guide you into all truth; for He will not speak on His own authority, but whatever He hears He will speak; and He will tell you things to comeJohn 16:13. He is God and He wants to have all of you. God wants you to draw close to Him so that He can show you the purpose in your pain. Wisdom is building your house on the Rock. Run to Jesus today.

Prayer: Lord Jesus, I draw near to You today with all my heart, soul, and might. Let my life be used for Your glory, in Jesus Name.
