Unpopular
“About that time Hezekiah became deathly ill, and the prophet Isaiah son of Amoz went to visit him. He gave the king this message: “This is what the Lord says: Set your affairs in order, for you are going to die. You will not recover from this illness.” 2 Kings 20:1
Over the next few days we will be learning from the life of Hezekiah. Please read 2kings20:1-6. I pray that everyone that has good news for you but is going in the wrong direction, God will send them back in Jesus Name. In those days, when a prophet comes into a town, people start trembling. Why? It is because they do not know what he is going to say. A prophet, Samuel, shows up in Bethlehem of Judah and the elders of the town run to him and ask – have you come peaceably? The prophetic is not about telling you what you want to hear. The prophetic is about telling you what God wants you to hear and that can be unpopular [please read 1kings 22:1-28].
Unfortunately, in our days Prophets always bring good news. Be careful of such Prophets. Am I saying Prophets should only announce doom? No. I am saying if you are in sin and the Prophet says all will be well with you, he is lying. It is written, “But it shall not be well with the wicked…” [Ecc.8:13] Sadly, these days it seems the truth is not spoken anymore. In fact, no one is speaking the truth to people anymore. How can they hear the Word of God? Isaiah came to the king and said, “Thus says the Lord…” I pray that God will raise you as a Prophet and raise true Prophets in Nigeria that will speak His mind. The prophetic is not about saying nice things; it is about conveying the mind of God. I see God raising strong prophetic voices over Nigeria, in Jesus Name.
“Thus says the Lord” is the weightiest statement in heaven and on earth. Statements are of varying weights. Medically for instance, when the general practitioner gives an alarming report and a specialist checks and says there is nothing to worry about. The patient can rejoice. But if the general practitioner says there is nothing to worry about and the specialist says you have everything to worry about, you are immediately thrown into panic mode. But even medically, when the experts give a report and it is contrary to “Thus says the Lord”, what happens is “Thus says the Lord” overrides the expert’s report. You need to understand and believe this as a child of God.
Prayer: Father, let Your Word override every negative report in my family, my health, my education, my career and my destiny, in Jesus Name.
