Incremental Releases

“He tells us everything over and over—
one line at a time, one line at a time, a little here, and a little there!” Isa.28:10

A lot of the time, we are too cautious; waiting for things to be perfect. We want to dot the I’s and cross the T’s. Note this, if you wait to dot all the “I’s” and cross all the “T’s”, by the time you are ready, it will be too late. In fact someone said relating to software programming, “If you are proud of your first release, you released it too late”. The first page release of some of these social media sites was ugly but they shipped anyway. It is called incremental releases. I am a huge supporter of rapid application development, which is, release the code quickly so that users engage it and give you feedback. Instead of staying in a cocoon and thinking you have all the solutions. Then by the time you release the solution it does not even fit the target market.

God does incremental releases. God does not wait until we are perfect before He uses us. He pushes you out even while you are saying you are not ready. Then He sorts out this and that, line upon line, precept upon precept, a little here and a little there. Then ten years down the line, people look at you and you are an overnight success. Yeah right! Or someone else says I want to do exactly what you did. That is fine – try it.

God does not wait for us to be perfect before He calls us. He loves us too much to leave us the way we were but He does not wait for us to be perfect before He calls us. God qualifies the called; He does not call the qualified. In fact, if God were to call the qualified, no one will qualify to be called. In fact, all these people that feel that they qualify to be called are hypocrites because none can stand before God’s righteousness.

Be careful who you want to give up on or who you want to write off. I have seen Christians write off other Christians because in their opinion, the person is useless and cannot do xyz. Be careful! Do not be in a hurry to judge people because you do not know where God has taken them from and you do not know where God is taking them. Ironically, sometimes it is the people that God has shown a lot of grace that are so impatient with other people. Be careful!

Prayer: Father, help me to fully grasp this thought of incremental releases. And as You transform me each day, lead me to exploit my life change for You, in Jesus Name.
