Seed Principle
“Money that comes easily disappears quickly, but money that is gathered little by little will grow.” Pr. 13:11 [NCV, emphasis added].
If you do not have savings, you cannot invest and you will not be able to take opportunities when they come. If you do not have a savings even God cannot use you financially because you do not have leverage. God cannot demand a seed from you because you have eaten everything. God asked the children of Israel to give part of the gold they had collected from Egypt to build the temple. The people that had given theirs to the building of the golden calf had nothing to give. Moses had melted that calf, mixed the gold in water and forced them to drink it. At the end of the day, when God called for a seed, some of them obviously would not have.
Some people have no seed to give because they have eaten their seed. There is an investment God wants you to take but you cannot because you have eaten everything. You are wearing it on your head. How can a hairpiece cost half a million naira? Guess what? That hairpiece will not make heaven. That money can be channeled in other ways. However, the fact that I do not share your view does not mean it is wrong. I am just saying many times we have eaten or are wearing our future.
The key here is Delayed Gratification. Nobody is saying you would not ever enjoy your money. What God is saying is, He wants to build you in a way that you would be able to enjoy it and it would last for generations. So it is not deprived gratification, it is just delayed gratification.
The fourth habit for financial freedom is Return Ten Percent To God. The Principle of Tithing. Some of us practice this habit already but we must make allowances for new believers who are not walking in it yet. “’Bring to My Storehouse a full tenth of what you earn… Test Me in this,’ says the Lord. ‘I will open the windows of heaven for you and pour out all the blessings you need’” Mal.3:10 [NCV, emphasis added]. The only place God gives us the provision to test His existence is in tithing. Check the scriptures. In fact, we as a church made bold to do a tithe challenge. We said to people that had never tithed. Tithe for three months; if God does not come through and prove faithful, stop tithing and we would give you back all your money. Good deal? And the testimonies were mind blowing.
Prayer: Father, I ask for the grace to delay gratification financially and to tithe faithfully, in Jesus Name.
