Through Him

Heb.1:^1-2 “Long ago God spoke many times and in many ways to our ancestors through the prophets. And now in these final days, he has spoken to us through his Son…”

In times past, in the Old Testament, God spoke to our fathers and to the people He wanted to reach through the prophets. Meaning, whoever wanted to hear from God had to have a relationship with a prophet. But today, God is saying if you want to hear from Him, you must have a relationship with His Son [Jesus Christ]. So primarily, to hear from God in our times, we do not need a relationship with a prophet. All we need is a relationship with Jesus to hear from God – and that is just so beautiful.

What I am saying to you is this, you can pray about anything and hear God’s mind concerning that thing. You do not need any prophet to pray on your behalf. You can sit with God and He will show you your future if He wants to. So stop running from pillar to post just to hear God’s voice because in essence, what you are implying is that Jesus’ death for you is irrelevant.

Am I saying all prophets are fake? Not at all! What I am saying is their function changed when Jesus came. The chances of a prophet telling you something that God has never told you before, are really slim. It can happen, but perhaps one percent of the time or, perhaps the person is dull of hearing. The other ninety-nine percent of the time, God has spoken to you already about the issue. I know that a lot of people will struggle with this because it is messing up their theology. Take it as a call for you to realign with God’s heart for you.

But why is it so important for you to hear God for yourself? We will share three important reasons from the Bible. Firstly, it proves you are in God’s family. The fact that you can hear God yourself proves that you are a member of God’s family. John 10:²⁷ “My sheep recognize My voice and follow Me” [emphasis added]. These are direct words of Jesus; hearing God for yourself proves that you are His sheep and you belong to His fold. Secondly, it protects you from mistakes. Prov.3:⁶ [MSG] “Listen for God’s voice in everything you do, and everywhere you go; He’s the one who will keep you on track.”

Prayer [song]: You are the reason I live, You’re the One for me (2x). Why should I fear when I have You? I’m surrounded by Your love, Your everlasting love. Why should I care what people say? They don’t know what You mean to me (2x).
