John 10:²⁷ “My sheep recognize My voice and follow Me” [with emphasis].

Today, we are continuing in our concluding thoughts from yesterday’s devotional. God’s Word highlights many reasons why you need to hear God personally. Jesus says in John 10:²⁷, “My sheep recognize My voice and follow Me” [emphasis added]. So hearing God is proof that you belong to God’s family. The second of the three reasons we are looking at is, hearing God protects you from making mistakes. If you are going to be great in God, as a child of God and in this world, you have to hear God by yourself. You cannot even depend on your biological parents.

There comes a time in everyone’s life when we will need to make huge decisions. At such times will you excuse yourself and call prophet xyz or your mother to speak to God on your behalf? That in it self sounds ridiculous. If you have been doing that, then you need to stop it today, because what you are saying to heaven is that Jesus’ death for you is irrelevant. What you should do is to engage the Spirit of God and make an accurate decision. God will guide you accurately. John 5:³⁰ [TLB] “But I pass no judgment without consulting the Father. I judge as I am told. And my judgment is absolutely fair and just, for it is according to the will of God who sent me and is not merely my own”.

The third reason why you need to hear God for yourself is because it produces personal success. Psa.32:⁸ “I will guide you along the best pathway for your life.  I will advise you and watch over you” [emphasis added]. There are many paths for your life, but God says He will personally guide you along the best one. So if you are not a child of God, you automatically put yourself in a wrong place. But as a child of God, you have the Spirit of God in you. You have the equipment to hear from God; you have all that you need to hear from God. However, it is possible to be a child of God and know it but still be unable to hear God. I pray that your spiritual ears will be opened today, in Jesus Name.

Prayer: Father, in the Name of Jesus, I declare that Your voice will not be strange to me or scarce in my ears. My household and I will seek and know the voice of our God.
