Kryptonite

Gen.3:⁶ So when the woman saw that the tree was good for food, that it was pleasant to the eyes, and a tree desirable to make one wise, she took of its fruit and ate. She also gave to her husband with her, and he ate.

Please read Genesis 3:1-12 and 1 John 2:15-17. I pray the Lord will open your eyes and fill you with wisdom and understanding as you read. May you also grow in your knowledge of Him as you engage His Word, in Jesus Name.

We can see in our scripture reference today, the craving for the things we see [the lust of the eyes], the craving of how delicious it would be [the lust of the flesh], and the craving for how wise and distinct we will be [the pride of life]. A lot of people go after money to satisfy the lust of the eyes. The lust of the flesh actually deals with our appetite. And one of the strongest appetites man has is the sexual appetite. The pride of life, the craving for the wisdom that it gives results in a quest for power. Over the next few weeks we will be taking a closer look at these three things – Money, Sex, Power.

The lust of the eyes, the lust of the flesh and the pride of life; these three things represent the same trap that the enemy has used from Genesis till date to cause men to fall short of all God has for mankind. But he will fail concerning you and I, in Jesus Name.  Most of us are familiar with the fictional character superman. Superman has only one weakness and that is kryptonite. So each time the enemy sought to capture him, they will plant kryptonite around him. Superman becomes a jelly with kryptonite around him and his enemies can capture and bind him easily.

Everyone has a kryptonite. Interestingly, my first encounter with the word kryptonite did not come from the superman movie. I met someone and when I asked the Holy Spirit who the person was, He said kryptonite. So I searched for the meaning and that was how I came about the superman story and I ran away. You run from kryptonite. I pray you get this because it will make your life sweet. Depending on the scenario, kryptonite can either be money, sex, or power. People mostly have one but for people that the devil is on their case in a special way, they have a combination. Regardless of what it is, God will set you free.

Prayer: Holy Spirit, I hide myself in Jesus. May I never become comfortable around kryptonite, in Jesus Name. Amen!
