Settle This!
Mark 12:30 “And you must love the Lord your God with all your heart, all your soul, all your mind, and all your strength” [with emphasis]
Sex is sweet but sacred! It is a fulfillment that comes as a reward of the pursuit of a person. But if you put the weight of your deepest desires on another human being, you are going to crush that person completely. Luke 10:27 “…You must love the Lord your God with all your heart, all your soul all your strength, and all your mind.’ And, ‘Love your neighbor as yourself.’” The Bible shows us clearly that God is to be No.1 and then your neighbor is No.2. Your spouse is your first neighbor. If they insist on wearing the No.1 tag, my advice is scribble “first under God” below it. Otherwise, you are setting that person up to be crushed.
For singles, you have an advantage because you can settle this before hand. Whoever comes into your life already sees that the Incomparable One has filled the spot for No.1. They naturally take the No.2 spot. It is not too late for those who are already married either. Sit with your spouse and discuss this. Tell him or her that from this day until eternity, God is my No.1 and you are my No.2. Josh.23:11 “So be very careful to love the Lord your God.”
If you can settle this, your life will be beautiful because no matter how No.2 works out for you, whether single or married, you are secured in No.1. For those that are married, it may not be going well with No.2 but if you are secured in No.1, you are fine because No.1 will sort out your No.2 eventually. If you are single, as long as you are secured in No.1, No.1 will bring your No.2. So making God No.1 sets you totally free!
The reason you are worrying about being married to the right person is because you are making that person No.1. The person will consistently be wrong because the person cannot handle being No.1. When you make the shift and make Christ No.1 in reality and the person No.2, the person now becomes the right person, because the person is actually designed to be No.2. Stop worrying about marrying the wrong person; just secure your relationship with No.1 and He will bring the right No.2. So make God your No.1 today.
Prayer: Lord, today I make Jesus my No.1 and I trust Him to sort out No.2, in Jesus Name. Amen!
