Nothing Compares

Philip.2:9 [KJV] “Wherefore God also has highly exalted him, and given him a name which Is above every name: 10 That at the name of Jesus every knee should bow, of things in heaven, and things in earth, and things under the earth”

People misuse the Name of God first by commonizing it, second by distorted claims and, third by hypocritical claims. The fourth way people misuse God’s Name is through presumptuous claims such as, “The Lord told me… or God said…”.

Be careful, just be careful! Again, many people in church are susceptible to this because it is used for strange reasons. Some people use it to manipulate other people. Some people us it to control people. Someone came to my office back in the day and he introduced himself as a man of God, then he said, “God sent me to tell you to fund this project I am doing!” And my heart broke.

So, I said to him, “Sir, by God’s grace I spoke with Him this morning and He told me some things I should do and that was not part of what He has for me to do.” The next thing he said will shock you; he said, “Are you trying to disobey God? Go into a room, pray and then come and tell me what God says.” I said, “Sir, right now He has not told me to fund your project. But give me your number and I assure you that as soon as He says so, I will give you a call.” He walked out of my office shaking his head in disappointment as though I was a rebellious brat. Why do people attempt to use God’s Name to manipulate others?

Imagine if this same thing happened to someone who does not know God; what do you think will happen? It would probably scare them, but it is all manipulation and it is so sickening. A lady who worships at God’s Favourite House, was telling me about an encounter she had, with the pastor in the church of a man she was to get married to. They went for counselling and after the counselling them, the pastor later called her to rebuke her, this was what he said, “Has the Holy Ghost not told you to transfer some money into my account?” That is just really sad. She said, “No! I worship in God’s Favourite House; we are well taught, so you cannot manipulate me!” It is hard to believe, but the painful reality is that these things actually happen. I am sure you know I cannot be making these stories up.

Prayer [song]: For Thou, O Lord, art high above all the earth. Thou art exalted far above all gods (2x). And I exalt Thee, I exalt Thee, I exalt Thee O-o Lord… Amen!
