Team Jesus
John 14:1-2 “Don’t let your hearts be troubled. Trust in God, and trust also in me. There is more than enough room in my Father’s home. If this were not so, would I have told you that I am going to prepare a place for you?.”
The team you are on matters a lot. Most of the time, the team you are on makes all the difference. As children of God, the team we are on has won already. We are champions already. We are more than conquerors. Jamal Blackman’s story is that people were always abusing him. ‘Why don’t you ever make the team? Why are you never on television? Nobody sees you anywhere, Jamal!’ But when his team won the game, he got his own gold medal to show for it. That medal silenced all the people that had abused and laughed at him in time past, all at once.
It does not matter how discouraged you are, keep your eyes on the big picture. It is not about you; it is all about Jesus. When you focus on the big picture, discouragement will be far from you. If you are a child of God, you are on the winning team. It does not matter how discouraged you are, it is all about Jesus! The final game has been won. Your name is already in the Book of Life. When people look at the history books of players that have won the UEFA Champions League, Jamal’s name will be there. There are many notable players who do not even have the Champions League gold medal, but Jamal Blackman does. It is all about the team you are on. The team you are on determines a whole lot of things.
When we realize that we are on the Jesus team and we live our lives in light of this, we actually become unstoppable. When I stop to think about eternity and that I am a child of God. The God who is the Maker of the universe, the Creator of the heavens and earth. If something tries to put me down or tell me I am useless. I just smile because I know who my Dad is. I do not know where or how you have been discouraged. Look at the big picture. Nobody may know your name, but you are going to get the gold medal. Nobody may even know your face, but your name is going to go down in history. That is the beauty of our walk with God.
Ps.43:5 “Why am I discouraged? Why so sad? I will put my hope in God! I will praise Him again – my Saviour and my God!” Take today’s scripture references like tablets; swallow them in the morning and evening for the next seven days. You have overcome discouragement.
Prayer (song): I come before my Lord and King. The One who gave His life for me. I’ll raise the banner of His name until the nations call on Him. The Champion of the hosts above and Captain of my destiny. In You alone I make my boast. You reign alone as Lord of All. Amen!
