G.R.I.P.

Hebrews 12:12 “So take a new grip with your tired hands, stand firm on your shaky legs” (LB, emphasis added).

God knows your hands are tired, and He knows your legs are shaking. But the instruction to you this season is to take a new grip with your tired hands. And as you take a grip with those tired hands, you will begin to find strength in the Name of Jesus. Those legs that you think are shaky, stand firm and you will see that power will enter those legs in the Mighty Name of Jesus. To gain traction and to make progress with your life, you need to get a grip – G.R.I.P. How? Number one, ‘G’ – Gain Momentum by Disrupting Your Patterns. Disrupt your patterns. Note that I did not say disrupt only negative patterns. Some patterns are not negative, but you need to disrupt them for you to make progress, get a grip and get traction.

Take subconscious driving, for instance, it has happened to me before. I set out to drive somewhere, and I do not consciously remember any other thing until I find myself in the parking lot of the church. Then I realize that I am not supposed to be in church. So, how did I get to church? I did not see anybody on the road. I did not notice any traffic lights or traffic officers on the road. However, the point is I have a pattern of always being in church. So, when I am not thinking, I am driving to church. A friend of mine told me a story about his older cousin. Back in the day, when you have multiple parties to attend, you start in location A, state A, and complete the party in location B, state B. On one of such days, his cousin started the party in location A, state A, and got drunk. And then he wanted to catch the last leg of the party in location B, state B. So, he set out to drive to location B, state B, only for his wife to wake him up in the morning parked in front of the gate of his house in location C, state C.

He drove from location A, state A to location C, state C subconsciously. Parked the car in front of his house and slept off on the steering wheel. That is how strong our patterns are. If we do not disrupt our patterns deliberately, it can take us to places we never thought we would be. We are creatures of habit, creatures of patterns. Many times, I go to the restaurant intending to order something different. But I end up ordering the same thing I usually order, why? When we do not take charge, we just do the same thing. You need to break those patterns deliberately and you can begin to experiment with brushing your teeth. Begin to brush your teeth with your left hand, instead of your right hand. Challenge your mind and break your patterns.

Prayer: Father, by Your Spirit, help me identify the patterns I must disrupt in my life so that I can gain momentum, get a grip, and gain traction, in Jesus Mighty Name. Amen!
