In The Word

Hebrews 4:12 “For the word of God is alive and powerful. It is sharper than the sharpest two-edged sword, cutting between soul and spirit, between joint and marrow. It exposes our innermost thoughts and desires.”

It is so important that we allow the Word of God to work in our lives. The situations that happen to us cause the people in our lives to ask the question, does the Word really work? We look at things happening in our nation, the unrest, kidnappings, insecurity, and safety is a big issue. And we ask, does the Word work? Everybody has an idea of how the government should be run. It is the Word that we are questioning. Can I take the Word of God for what it is? Does the Word work? For instance, COVID-19 is still here. People went to prayer meetings, came back, and died of COVID-19. And the question is, does the Word work?

Like Apostle Paul, I have been sent to say to you that our experiences do not negate the authenticity of the Word of God. In fact, the authenticity of the Word of God can and should influence our experiences. That is why Paul would say in Romans 3:4God forbid: yea, let God be true, but every man a liar; as it is written, That thou mightest be justified in thy sayings, and mightest overcome when thou art judged.” (KJV). Your circumstances do not make God a liar. It is the Word that works that makes the difference. When we know how to work the Word, and Word works in our lives, the differences are evident in our lives.

So we go to the very beginning, not the beginning of the Word, but the beginning of when we experienced and embraced the Word. 1 Thessalonians 2:13Therefore, we never stop thanking God that when you received his message from us, you didn’t think of our words as mere human ideas. You accepted what we said as the very word of God—which, of course, it is. And this word continues to work in you who believe.” (emphasis added). When we experience the Word of God, it is the Word of God, and it is to be received as the Word of God. Paul, Peter, Thaddaeus, Bartholomew, Moses, and David were flawed. But when they stood as oracles, they stood as the oracles of God. And their words became God’s Word, not their own ideas. So, a sermon is not a Ted Talk.

A sermon is not motivational speaking. Well, you could say that a lot of sermons these days have become motivational speaking. But it ought not to be. When the Word of God is preached, it is as it is, the Word of God. And therein lies the power, the efficacy, the effectiveness of God’s power. And it is in the Word that healings and deliverances stream from.

Prayer: Father, in my life and in my mouth, there will be no question of the efficacy, the power, and the effectiveness of Your Word, in the Mighty Name of Jesus. Amen!
