Who You Are!

Ephesians 2:¹⁰ “For we are God’s masterpiece. He has created us anew in Christ Jesus, so we can do the good things he planned for us long ago.”

How do you let go of your past? The first is Close The Door To Your Past. John 21:¹⁵ “After breakfast Jesus asked Simon Peter, “Simon son of John, do you love me more than these?”…” (emphasis added). Do you love Him more than these? So why are you keeping these other doors open? Do you know why Peter was? It is because, as they say, ‘a fish in hand…’ And that was what Peter intended to bank on. We say to ourselves, let’s be pragmatic. But God is saying to you, you need to shut the door on ‘these’. The hurt, the resentment, that place you go to when you feel everybody has been unfair to you. You need to shut the door against it.

That guilt that tells you that you are unforgivable. You need to shut the door against it. That shame that tells you that you are unlovable. You need to shut the door against it. That insecurity that tells you that you are unusable. You need to shut the door against it. The truth is that when you hold on to your past, what you are saying is the power of your past is stronger than the power of The Cross. When you hold on to your past, what you are saying invariably is that the power of what you did is stronger than the power of what Jesus did. What you are saying is that the power of what I did to Him is stronger than the power of what He, Jesus did for you.

Shut the door! People become great and they think that their identity is in the greatness. God is saying, you may be called a C.E.O., but you are not a C.E.O., You are greater than a C.E.O. God is saying they may have called you a failure, but you are not a failure, you are greater than a failure. What God is saying to you is this, you are not what you have done. You are not what has happened to you. You are not what people call you or did to you. You are who God says you are. You are forgiven. You are a child of God. You are a chosen instrument of heaven. You are a chosen generation. You are a royal priesthood. You are a holy nation. You have been called forth to show forth the praises of Him who has brought you out of darkness into His marvellous light. You are the child of the Living God. That is who you are.

How do you let go of your past? After you Close The Door To Your Past, the second thing is Step Into Your Future. God saved you from your past not so that you can just stand and look miserable. God saved you from your past so that you can step into your future.

Prayer (hymn): I’m pressing on the upward way, new heights I’m gaining every day. Still praying as I onward bound, “Lord, plant my feet on higher ground.” Lord, lift me up, and let me stand by faith on Heaven’s tableland; A higher plane than I have found… Amen!
