1 Chronicles 4:¹⁰ “And Jabez called on the God of Israel saying, “Oh, that You would bless me indeed, and enlarge my territory, that Your hand would be with me, and that You would keep me from evil, that I may not cause pain!” So God granted him what he requested.”

The first thing that determines your limitedness or limitlessness is The Words Spoken Over You. The second thing is The Words You Speak. Proverbs 18:²¹ “Death and life are in the power of the tongue, and those who love it will eat its fruit” (NKJV).

I want you to determine in your heart today that regardless of what your eyes see, your mouth will only speak what you want to see in your life. This is so powerful and that is why the Scripture would say, let the weak say I am strong. It is not being in denial. It is recreating reality. Let the poor say I am rich. How can you say that when your rent is due, and you do not even where the money will come from? Declare still, I am rich. Someone says, “Words are free. It is how you use them, that may cost.”

The third thing that determines your limitedness or limitlessness is The Name You Bear. 1 Samuel 25:²⁵ “Please pay no attention, my lord, to that wicked man Nabal. He is just like his name—his name means Fool, and folly goes with him…” (NIV). Who names his own son fool? What kind of parents give birth to a child and name the child fool? But some parents actually do that. Some parents do not name their children fool, it is not on their birth certificate. But that is what they speak over their children from morning till night. Then what happens? As a parent, you have to be determined that no matter what happens, you will only bless your children. Let’s declare this out loud, even if you are not a parent yet because you will be a parent one day. Say, no matter what happens, I will only bless my children.

The truth is that the devil is a very bad devil. The devil provokes you to curse your children and then he uses them to punish you. And the circle of negativity just goes on and on. Make up your mind that you will only bless your children. I pray that the negative words you have spoken over your children would be cancelled now in the Name of Jesus. Names are so powerful. Someone was called pain by his mother, Jabez. Again, how can you give birth to a child and call him pain? They say it was because Jabez’s father abandoned her, and she was in emotional pain. Others say Jabez had a very big head which caused her a lot of pain and difficulty during childbirth. And so, she named him Pain, Jabez. We do not know what the real situation was.

But we know what she did was wrong. No matter what you feel, do not curse and limit your child. But thank God, Jabez knew the God of Israel. The God you have come to. So, Jabez cried to the God of Israel and God changed his story. God will change your story in the Name of Jesus.
