Live On The Rest?

2 Kings 4:7 “Then she came and told the man of God. And he said, Go, sell the oil, and pay thy debt, and live thou and thy children of the rest” (KJV, emphasis added).

The question is, what does live on the rest look like? How can you live on the rest for the rest of your life? How many gallons could she possibly have that she will live on for the rest of her life? 

And not just you, it is for you and your children. Meaning that this oil that you have produced should sustain you and when you are gone, it should sustain your children. And I dare to say when they are gone, it should sustain their children. In other words, this oil should be limitless. Even though it is a limited resource because the vessels finished, and the oil stayed. It was so much a blessing that God said, live on it and when you are gone, your children will live on it. Wait a minute, even if it is ten billion dollars.

Do you know that one person can finish ten billion dollars in five years or less? Just one person. There are things to waste money on. It means that there are things she should do to maximize the blessings of God upon her life that will last her and her children and the generations yet to come. There are things you do that will maximize the blessings of God upon your life. So, what does live on the rest look like? The first thing we see is, to get out of debt. And ‘get out of debt’ means ‘do not live a fake life’. Some people are owing school fees, but they are travelling with their children for the summer. How do people think? 

Some people insist that they need to go for the summer vacation because all their friends are also travelling for the summer, and they are going with their children. Pastor, we are doing this for the children, really? You are actually killing them because your children can see that you are living a fake life and that is how they are going to live. Why are you buying a new dress when you are owing someone money? But Pastor, I need to look good, I need to slay. Stop the fake life! That is what getting out of debt means. Stop living a fake life. Stop it! 

What does living on the rest look like? I am going to attempt to paint a big picture. And I pray that God will give you the details in the Name of Jesus. To live on the rest, I have summarized it into three things called R.M.S. and it stands for Retain. Multiply. Shoulder. Therefore, live on the rest means you Retain, you Multiply and then you Shoulder. To live on the rest, firstly, you must Retain wealth. I pray for you, in the Name of Jesus, the strength and the capacity to retain wealth and receive it in the Name of Jesus. You will retain wealth! Your children will retain wealth in the Mighty Name of Jesus. 

Prayer: Father, I receive the capacity and the strength to retain the wealth and blessings You are pouring into my life, my finances, and my farm, in Jesus Name. Amen!
