Multiply, You Must!

Psalm 144:13 “May our barns be filled with crops of every kind. May the flocks in our fields multiply by the thousands, even tens of thousands”

The second thing you need to do to live on the rest is Multiply. The truth is you cannot multiply what you do not have, what you have not retained. When you have retained it, you need to learn to multiply it.

2 Kings 4:4&7Then go into your house with your sons and shut the door behind you. Pour olive oil from your flask into the jars, setting each one aside when it is filled.” …When she told the man of God what had happened, he said to her, “Now sell the olive oil and pay your debts, and you and your sons can live on what is left over.” We see that the farm is where you produce the wealth, but it is not necessarily where you multiply it. Many of us are looking to the farm to multiply our wealth. Just a few people get wealthy from the farm.

Most people that get wealthy, and the pattern I see in the scriptures is that you get wealthy outside of the farm. You take the produce of the farm, and you multiply it. That is how to get wealthy. So, people are angry with their work, and with their farm because of their financial position. And God is saying, what are you doing? You did not prioritize God; you did not tithe. You did not prioritize yourself; you did not save. You did not retain wealth; you did not multiply it and you are blaming your farm. You cannot blame your farm. What I am saying is, that live on the rest is a loaded statement. Do not just read it and walk away. To live on the rest, you must not only retain wealth, but you must also multiply your wealth. How?

Genesis 26:12When Isaac planted his crops that year, he harvested a hundred times more grain than he planted, for the Lord blessed him.” If you plant crops, what would you reap? Crops, right? If you plant corn, you reap corn. If you plant rice, you reap rice. If you plant tomatoes, you will reap tomatoes. Good, I just want us to establish that. So, Isaac planted crops and he reaped the harvest of crops, right? Now, see where the transition happens. Genesis 26:13-14He became a very rich man, and his wealth continued to grow. He acquired so many flocks of sheep and goats, herds of cattle, and servants that the Philistines became jealous of him.”

If a man planted crops and reaped a hundred-fold, then the Bible should say he had a lot of crops, right? But that is not what the Bible says. The Bible says that Isaac was rich in flocks of sheep and goats, herds of cattle, and servants. How can you plant crops and have so many flocks of sheep and goats, cattle and servants? What Isaac was doing is he was taking from the farm and converting it to wealth. Remember, it is not the proceeds of the farm but what you do with the proceeds of the farm, that determines your financial future.

Prayer: Father, I ask for the wisdom, the insight, the understanding required to multiply the wealth that You have blessed me with, in the Mighty Name of Jesus. Amen!
