The Power, II

Genesis 31:21 “So Jacob took all his possessions with him and crossed the Euphrates River, heading for the hill country of Gilead.”

Our first lesson from the farm is the Power of Income. Our second lesson from the farm is the Power of Location. It is important to note that location also brings its own challenges. However,

while your farm can be tied to a location, you must ensure that your wealth is not tied to a location. While your farm can be tied to a location, you must make sure that your wealth is nimble. Why? It is because you can be driven away from your farm. But nobody should be able to take your wealth from you. And this is so huge. You can be driven from your farm. But your wealth must be portable. You must invest in portability. And we see this pattern in scripture.

Genesis 26:16Finally, Abimelech ordered Isaac to leave the country. “Go somewhere else,” he said, “for you have become too powerful for us.” They started by blocking his wealth, trying to destroy his wealth infrastructure. He kept persevering and because of the blessing of God upon him, Isaac kept becoming more and more powerful. They can drive you from your farm. If you have a job, they can fire you. No matter how the farm has been a blessing, you can lose it. The nation can be at war, and you can lose your farm. However, if you have learnt this principle, while you are working the farm, you are making your wealth portable. When they order you out of the farm, and you step out of the farm, your wealth goes with you.

The herds, the flocks, and the slaves go with you. You carry all the wealth with you. Of course, you still have some investments tied down here and there on the farm, but the crux of your wealth goes with you. You cannot go with your farm, but you can go with your flocks and your herds. You cannot go with your farm, but your wealth should be portable. Ask Jacob, when it was time to leave Laban’s employment, Jacob’s wealth was nimble so he could take his wealth with him. Jacob could not go with Laban’s farm, but he took all his wealth with him.

#3. The Power of Repetition: At the farm, you learn the power of repetition. The human heart is perpetually looking for an easy button. The human heart gets bored easily. It wants the easy way out. But this woman kept pouring into vessel after vessel. It must have been boring just pouring oil, but inside there was where her wealth was. To the unlearned and the immature repetition is boring. But to the learned and the mature, repetition is necessary.

Prayer: Father, I ask for the grace to retain and deploy these lessons in my farm and income consistently, in the Mighty Name of Jesus. Amen!
