The Power, III
2 Kings 4:6 “Soon every container was full to the brim! “Bring me another jar,” she said to one of her sons. “There aren’t any more!” he told her. And then the oil stopped flowing.”
The things you learn on the farm will maintain your wealth. The character you form on the farm will maintain your wealth. The discipline of waking up early if you are an early riser.
The discipline of showing up consistently at work. The discipline of serving other people. The discipline of being humble enough to take correction. These things will protect your wealth. What you learn at work will protect your wealth. What you learn on the farm will protect your finances. That is why the young man who is a millionaire in dollars because of his investments, has a day job as a Starbucks attendance. And he still does it today.
Maybe he even has a Starbucks franchise, I don’t know. But the crux for his investment was he had money from his father (generational wealth), that he invested. Let’s say he had two hundred thousand dollars from his father. He invested it in crypto and real estate. The wealth multiplied; he became a millionaire. But he is still keeping his Starbucks job. At the farm you learn the Power of Income, you learn the Power of Location, and you learn the Power of Repetition.
#4. The Power of Cooperation: At the farm, you learn the power of cooperation. 2Kings 4:4-5 “Then go into your house with your sons and shut the door behind you… so she did as she was told. Her sons kept bringing jars to her, and she filled one after another” (emphasis added). You learn at work that you cannot work alone. You learn at work that you need people. In her case, she needed to work with her sons. They needed to cooperate. You cannot produce effectively if you cannot cooperate with the people around you. You need to learn to cooperate. Another thing we see from this story is that we should introduce our children to work early. That is one of the things my mother did for us. Being a single mother, she had to work two jobs.
She was the first person I know who worked two jobs. Her day job was teaching in a school and after that, she ran after-school lessons in a duplex. The entire facility was filled with students. What she did was that she brought us in to teach the lower classes. I started teaching while I was in secondary school. When I was in my fourth year in secondary school, for example, I would teach students in first-year maths and help them prepare for their exams. Guess what? She paid me the same amount she was paying her teachers, and it was good money.
Prayer: Father, I ask for the wisdom and courage not only to deploy the power of income, location, repetition, and cooperation but to teach them to my children, in Jesus Name. Amen!
