Constant Help
Romans 8:26-27 “And the Holy Spirit helps us in our weakness. For example, we don’t know what God wants us to pray for. But the Holy Spirit prays for us with groanings that cannot be expressed in words… for the Spirit pleads for us believers in harmony with God’s own will.”
God knows we are going to run our mouths. So, as we are running our mouths, The Holy Spirit is saying, “The Blood of Jesus!” God knows we are going to rove our eyes. And as we are roving our eyes,
The Holy Spirit is saying, “The Blood of Jesus!” God knows and has provided an advocate for us. Sometimes, when we hear these things, we are concerned that won’t this just give people permission to be irresponsible. Let’s look to God’s Word, they are words to live by. Romans 6:15 “What then? shall we sin, because we are not under the law, but under grace? God forbid.” (KJV).
John 14:16-18 “And I will ask the Father, and he will give you another advocate to help you and be with you forever— the Spirit of truth. The world cannot accept him, because it neither sees him nor knows him. But you know him, for he lives with you and will be in you. I will not leave you as orphans; I will come to you.” (NIV, emphasis added). If Jesus says another advocate, was Jesus really an advocate? At least we knew how Jesus lived with His disciples. Was Jesus really an advocate for His disciples? When Peter used his sword to cut off the ear of the people who came to arrest Jesus, what did Jesus do? Advocacy – He took the ear and put it back so that they would not put Peter in prison (Luke 22:47-51).
Before Peter denied Jesus three times, Jesus had already advocated for him. He said I have prayed for you that your faith will not fail. The truth is denying Jesus is a big deal! But Jesus advocated for Peter even before he did it. Luke 22:31-32 “Simon, Simon, Satan has asked to sift each of you like wheat. But I have pleaded in prayer for you, Simon, that your faith should not fail. So when you have repented and turned to me again, strengthen your brothers.” What about when tax collectors came, and they did not have taxes to pay? Jesus paid His taxes and also paid the disciple’s taxes. Do you know that was what happened? Please read Matthew 17:27. Jesus advocated financially for His disciples.
John 14:16 “And I will ask the Father, and he will give you another Advocate, who will never leave you.” (emphasis added). This was a new concept for the Old Testament believer because the Holy Spirit did not stay persistently before this. He would come on the prophet, the prophet would prophesy, and He would lift.
Prayer: Father, I thank You for the gift of The Holy Spirit, in Jesus Name. Amen!
