Guaranteed Rewards
Luke 18:29-30 “Yes,” Jesus replied, “and I assure you that everyone who has given up house or wife or brothers or parents or children, for the sake of the Kingdom of God, will be repaid many times over in this life, and will have eternal life in the world to come.”
God’s fifth guarantee for your future is To Reward Your Service And Generosity. I make no apologies in saying that maybe, just maybe, the most significant thing you will do with your life is to serve God in God’s Favourite House (or in your local church). So, what you do in God’s house will outlast your career, hobbies, and everything else. A hundred years from now, you will be existing. You may not exist here on Earth, but you will exist (alive) somewhere. And I pray that you will be in heaven because almost everyone reading this may not be around a hundred years from now. If you are fifteen years old now, in a hundred years, you will be one hundred and fifteen years old. Well, maybe you will still be around.
But if you are forty, if you still want to be around in a hundred years, then more grease to your elbow. In a hundred years, most of us will be in eternity with the Lord Jesus. Now, think about it: will it matter what shoes you wore, the car you drove, or where you worked in a hundred years? The only thing that will matter is how you contributed to and changed people’s lives for eternity. Picture this, you are in heaven, and somebody walks up to you and says, “Thank you so much! You were one of the people who paid the price to build God’s Favourite House. Even though you were gone decades before I was born, it was your seed that made room for me to accept Jesus and be in heaven.”
Imagine people who do not speak your language coming to you and saying, “It was your generosity, your service… You were an usher; you did not see me, but you gave me the decision card when I gave my life to Jesus. Thank you! You took care of me in the children’s church. I was that little boy in class, and even though I was naughty, you were so gentle with me. You parked my car and changed my tyres while I was a service. And because of you, I heard the Word of God that changed my life.” It is what you do in serving God that lasts for eternity. If someone comes to you with any of these stories, do you think it will be worth it? It certainly will be.
Do you know anything more important to do with your life than to be in eternity and have tonnes of people come to you to say thank you? Thank you for preaching the gospel, for standing strong and not giving up, for smiling despite all you went through, it strengthened me.” So, are you going to live your life for your desires, or are you going to live for God?
Prayer: Father, help me to consistently serve and give with all my heart, in Jesus Name. Amen!
