Help Me!
Psalm 20:7-8 “Some trust in and boast of chariots and some of horses, but we will trust in and boast of the name of the Lord our God. They are bowed down and fallen, but we are risen and stand upright.” (AMPC)
Ezra 8:22 “For I was ashamed to require of the king a band of soldiers and horsemen to help us against the enemy in the way: because we had spoken unto the king, saying, The hand of our God is upon all them for good that seek him;
but his power and his wrath is against all them that forsake him.” (KJV). Note that it was the king, not a friend, that Ezra was ashamed to ask for help. The question is why was he ashamed? We have already boasted that for people who seek God, His hand is upon them for good. So, how can we now go and ask for protection? There is a problem with that. It is either God is God or let us go back home. That was what Ezra was saying. Ezra said we have boasted to the king about our God and His faithfulness to those who seek Him. And because we cannot go and ask the king for help, Ezra said in Ezra 8:23 “So we fasted and besought our God for this: and he was intreated of us.” (KJV).
In the Name of Jesus, as you fast and seek God in your life, God will hear you, God will answer you, and God will release supernatural assistance and supernatural breakthroughs to you. As you seek God and God alone, as you seek help from the hand of God and not from the hand of man, God will release help for you. God will stretch forth His hands and turn the tide in your favour in the Name of Jesus. Fasting reveals the hand of God. The hand of God that you have boasted about, if you want to release it and reveal it, it is through fasting and praying. As you fast, as you wait on God, God will answer you in the Name of Jesus.
Jabez knew that if he just asked for blessings and did not ask for a capacity increase, there would be a constraint, and there would be a problem. So, he needed to pray that God would enlarge his influence, and enlarge his capacity. But Jabez knew that if God’s hand did not rest upon him, he would not be able to sail through, manage it, handle it, or have the supernatural enablement for it. Jabez also knew that because of these breakthroughs, there would inadvertently be enemies, jealousy, beef, and haters. So Jabez’s next prayer was 1 Chronicles 4:10 “…and that thou wouldest keep me from evil, that it may not grieve me…” (KJV).
God, the Maker of Heaven and Earth will keep you from evil. He went on to say to the Lord, the problems and pain that I cause, do not just keep me from evil, keep evil away from me and keep me. In other words, make me incapable of doing evil. We mostly only pray that God will keep us away from evil. But some people are still capable of doing evil by themselves. Jabez was asking God to keep evil from him and keep him from causing pain.
Prayer: Father, as I seek Your face in season, turn to me, and answer me, keep evil away from me, and keep me from evil, and make me incapable of doing evil, in Jesus Name. Amen!
