Far More

Philippians 4:8 “In conclusion, my friends, fill your minds with those things that are good and that deserve praise: things that are true, noble, right, pure, lovely, and honourable.” (GNT)

It is what you fill your mind with that will determine the way you think. The way you think determines the way you feel, which in turn determines the way you act. Sadly, so many people are filling their minds with Netflix and social media. So, their reactions to situations in their lives will inadvertently create confusion in their lives. Paul says we are to respond to life’s situations based on what is noble, right, pure, lovely, admirable, excellent, and praiseworthy. These are the things that should fill your mind. But if you fill your mind with Netflix and social media, you will find that you will try to build a fake life. Meanwhile, if you build your life on what is true, noble, right, pure, lovely, admirable, excellent, and praiseworthy, your life will be totally glamorous.

The root cause of stress in your life is the way you have chosen to think. Two people can be in the same situation, and go through the same thing. One person comes out stronger and better, but the other person comes out destroyed and shattered. It is obvious that it is not what they went through that was the problem, because both of them went through the same thing. It is how they chose to think about what they were going through. So, the problem is not the problem. Your problem is not your problem. Your real problem is how you have chosen to think about your problem. You need to change how you think about the problem by God’s Word.

You will see how peaceful your life will be, because as a man thinks in his heart, so he is (Proverbs 23:7). The Result: Philippians 4:7If you do this, you will experience God’s peace, which is far more wonderful than the human mind can understand. His peace will keep your thoughts and your hearts quiet and at rest as you trust in Christ Jesus.” (LB, emphasis added). In the Name of Jesus Christ of Nazareth, you will experience God’s peace, and it will fill your heart. Your heart and thoughts will not be in panic mode. The truth is people are going through a lot, and people’s mental health is deteriorating daily, because of pressure and anxiety everywhere. It is amazing the things that people try to find peace in, in this world. The only lasting peace is in God.

God’s peace is an unexplainable gift to you. God’s peace transcends human understanding. It cannot be duplicated, copied, or fabricated. So, how will these things be? The scripture says, “…as you trust in Christ Jesus.” Boom! It is as you trust. It is a trusting relationship with Christ Jesus. Where is your trust? Do you have a thriving trust-based walk with Jesus?

Prayer: Father, I trust You and I fix my thoughts, and mind on You alone, in Jesus Name. Amen!
