Source. Image. Name.
Isaiah 43:1 “But now, O Jacob, listen to the Lord who created you. O Israel, the one who formed you says, “Do not be afraid, for I have ransomed you. I have called you by name; you are mine.”
Do not let Circumstances, People, and Experiences define you. Experiences are different from circumstances in the sense that, experiences are like a summation of your education and exposure. Yes, you have been exposed to this and you are educated in that. Fantastic, but do not let your education and your exposure define you. Your experiences are too small to define you. Your education and exposure are too small to define you. The fourth thing that attempts to define us is satan. Do not let satan define you. Satan will try to define you. He tried to define Jesus. He said, “If you are the Son of God, command these stones to become bread” (Matthew 4:3). Knowing that sons of God are sons of God because they rely on their God.
What satan was saying to Jesus in essence is prove that you are a son of God by walking away from being a son of God. Jesus said, “No, man shall not live by bread alone, but by every Word that proceeds from the mouth of God” (Matthew 4:4). Jesus was saying sons of God are defined by the Father. And this is the fifth thing, it is The Father alone that defines us, not our circumstances, not people, not experiences, and definitely not satan. And He does that in three main ways. The first is by Sourcing. God is our source. We are who we are because we proceed from The Father. So, you cannot get rid of us except you get rid of our source, except you get rid of God, except you get rid of The Father. So, it is impossible because God is our source.
God is the progenitor. We are who we are. If God is not your source, you are not a child of God. You may be a child of God by creation, but you are not a child of God by relationship. You need to settle that matter today. God defines us by sourcing. The second way God defines us is by Imaging. The Bible says in Hebrews 1:3 that Jesus is the express image of the invisible God. The more we behold Him, the more we stay with Him, the more we just bask in Him, the more He defines us. We begin to see who we really are. He becomes the mirror, and we see that we are actually gods. I know some people’s theology cannot handle this, but even God says it in His Word, “You are gods and the sons of the Most High”. (Psalm 82:6, John 10:34).
The third way in which God defines us is by Naming. You cannot rise above the name that you bear. So, when God wants to define us, He gives us a name. I was praying one day, and God gave me a name. God names us. And some of us, it is the name your parents gave you so stop looking for what is not missing. But God needs to breath on that name.
Prayer: Father, You are my Source. I am created in Your image and likeness. I am called by Your Name. I am who God says I am, defined by God alone, in Jesus Name. Amen!
