Hands On!

Psalm 92:12-14 “Those who are devoted to God will flourish like budding date-palm trees; they will grow strong and tall like cedars in Lebanon. Those planted …will thrive in the courts of our God. They will bear fruit into old age; even in winter, they will be green and full of sap.” (The Voice)

Palm trees are always flourishing regardless of the weather. So, I pray that whether there is depression, recession, or the exchange rate is catapulting, you will flourish like the palm trees. Regardless of the season and regardless of what is hitting the world, like the cedar you will flourish, in the Name of Jesus. The cedar, for instance, is known for its durability. You will be durable. You will not quench halfway; you will last and last. The cedar is attractive. You will be attractive. Your life will be beautiful and attractive, in the Name of Jesus. There are certain other trees that are durable and attractive, but when you get close to them, they are offensive.

But not the cedar, when you get close to the cedar, it has a pleasant aroma. In the Name of Jesus Christ of Nazareth, you will be durable, you will be attractive, and you will have a sweet smell. The palm tree’s branch is a symbol of triumph and victory. Do you know what the Romans used to give to the victor in athletic sports? The Romans awarded them a palm branch. They made the palm branch into a writhe and gave it to the athlete as a crown. And the athlete cherished it. If you give someone a palm branch today, even a primary school sports victor athlete will not accept it from you because it has lost its meaning. Similarly, during the triumphant entry into Jerusalem, it was palm fronds that were raised and laid on the floor for Jesus to ride on because it speaks of victory. I pray, in the Mighty Name of Jesus, that your life will be victorious, and your life will be triumphant.

Your life is a seed and guess what? A seed can only grow if it is planted. The cedar seed or the palm tree seed would never become a tree, grow, and flourish if it is not planted. God wants you to be planted. You need to get into the life-stream of your local church. You need to get involved. You need to be planted in your serving. You need be planted in your giving. You need to be planted in small groups. Ask yourself, is it time for you to start serving? I think it is. Check how long you spend on social media for instance. Some people spend more time on social media, than they spend serving Jesus. Some people spend more time on social media in one day, than they spend on serving Jesus in a week, a month, or even in a year. How long do you spend serving Jesus? It is a question you need to wrestle with. You have to be planted and you have to get involved. Get into the bloodstream (life-stream) of your church.

Prayer (hymn): Take my hands and let them move at the impulse of Thy love. Take my feet and let them be swift and beautiful for Thee, swift and beautiful for Thee. Amen!
