Why?

Genesis 2:¹⁸ “Then YAHWEH-God said, “It is not good for the man to be alone. Therefore, I will fashion a suitable partner to be his help and strength.” (TPT)

Over the next few days, we will be looking at Why Marry – why get married, why stay married, why remarry? One of the primary goals for us at God’s Favourite House is to strengthen marriages. It is a huge part of our vision. To be filled with the life of Christ Jesus and released into our destinies – our marital destiny is big for us. Nothing in society can be strong unless families are strong. And we are not talking about perfection here. The world is a broken. Every marriage is broken because you cannot take two imperfect people and make them into a perfect couple. They can look perfect in social media pictures, but there are no perfect couples because there are no perfect people. However, by God’s mystery, marriages last.

By God’s design, marriages are designed to last. In fact, God dislikes divorce. However, there is a lot of pressure on marriages today. So, over the next few days, I will be addressing you as an individual whether you are single or married. Listen, for your marriage to last, it will be up to you, and it will be because of you. Is marriage that important? Is marriage even worth the trouble? Isn’t marriage just a piece of paper that the government gives you? Someone said to me, “Pastor, marriage is a scam. I feel like I have been scammed.” The truth is there is a lot of confusion out there, and many people are asking these questions from a sincere place. I pray that in the days that follow, God Himself will give you answers in the Name of Jesus.

Increasingly, more and more young people, I am talking about people in their early twenties and thirties, are asking, does marriage really matter? Someone said to me the other day, “Pastor, I think marriage is overrated. Why should I get married?” The young ladies are saying, I can do bad all by myself. I can make my own money, get my own corner office, and be a boss lady. So, who needs a man? I can be in relationships with no strings attached. Why do I have to get married? I do not even need a man’s stress. I have a wand. And it sounds appealing to the ears of the untrained. Some men have said to me, “Pastor, the stress of women is too much! I can just have women on the side, build my life and my finances. We can be friends without commitments, friends with benefits.” In fact, a young man said to me, “Pastor, I cannot trust women. I cannot marry a woman because it is difficult to trust a woman”.

And the reasons are as many sometimes as there are people. So, I am praying again that God will give you answers in the Name of Jesus.

Prayer: Father, I receive answers to the questions on my heart, in Jesus Mighty Name. Amen!
