Hebrews 11:11 “It was faith that made Abraham able to become a father, even though he was too old and Sarah herself could not have children. He trusted God to keep his promise.” (GNT)

If you look at Abraham’s life, you will think Abraham was crazy. However, Abraham was not just hopeful, Abraham had faith. Abraham believed that God would keep His promise—that is faith. The assurance rests on the promises of God. Why did Moses go back to Egypt? It was because God said so. Why did Joseph not give up on his dreams? It was because God said so. Why could Joshua lead the people into the promised land? It was because God said so.

Faith is the confidence that God is who He says He is, and He will do what He says He would do (has promised). Pastor, what if God has not said anything to me? What if I am not sure about what God has said to me? Listen, the Bible has over seven thousand (some say eight thousand) promises from God for you. If you are a child of God, these promises belong to you. Start from there. Exhaust all the seven, eight thousand promises of God for you in the Bible while you are desiring to hear the voice of God. Faith is the confidence that God is who He says He is, and He will do what He has said He will do.

So, we have seen what faith is NOT, and we have seen what faith IS. Next is, how to grow in faith. How can you grow in faith? The first thing is, Evaluate The FOUNDATION of Your Faith. It is because if your foundation is wrong, whatever you are building upon it will crumble. So, you need to examine the foundation of your faith. For instance, some people have what they call DIY (Do-It-Yourself) faith. Such people make statements like “my truth and your truth”. My truth is what I believe. Yes, you should know what you believe. However, what you believe should be based on the infallibility of the Word of God. Sadly, people are believing strange things these days. And some claim that based on what they believe, they identify as strange things.

I was told recently about a man who said he identifies as broccoli and that is his truth. Really? So, he was asked, “Okay, since you identify as broccoli, what do you do?” He said, “I grow”. A lady said she identifies as a father. Therefore, as she is a parent who identifies as a man, she is now “trans-parent”. There is only one truth, He is a Person, and His Name is Jesus. Every other truth must find its bearing in Christ, otherwise the foundation is faulty. If the foundation of your faith is do-it-yourself (DIY), it is going to crumble.

Prayer (song): Christ is my firm foundation. The rock on which I stand. When everything around me is shaken, I’ve never been more glad, That I put my faith in Jesus. ‘Cause He’s never let me down. He’s faithful through generations. So why would He fail now? He won’t. Amen!
