Now What: Make God Priority

‘And Jesus said, Neither do I. Go and sin no more’ John 8:11

The phrase ‘go and sin no more’ was used several times by our Lord Jesus [see John 5:14, 8:11]. What this phrase translates to is ‘Go and make God priority’. Sin is the barrier between man and God. ‘Listen! The LORD’s arm is not too weak to save you, nor is his ear too deaf to hear you call. It’s your sins that have cut you off from God. Because of your sins, He has turned away and will not listen anymore’ Isa.59:1-2. When sin is taken out of the equation, we have communion with God. The truth is that abstaining from sin all together is not something anyone can achieve in their own strength. Similarly, every act of righteousness we attempt in our own strength cannot measure up to God’s own standard for righteousness. ‘All our righteousness are as filthy rags Isa. 64:6 [KJV]. Only Jesus can take care of our sin problem. We need to understand that apart from Jesus the Christian walk is a suicide mission. We desperately need to come to Jesus and come under His leadership and influence. Jesus is ‘…the [only] way, the truth and the life’ John 14:6. Furthermore, none of us can access the Father except through Jesus Christ. Therefore anyone who wants to come to God, and make Him priority cannot come unless he/she comes through Jesus. There is no other alternative. No other option. No other Way. The reason a lot of people are still defeated by sin, addictions, ungodly habits etc., is that Jesus has not become the Lord and Saviour of their lives. You cannot make God priority except you come in Christ Jesus and by the Spirit. In Christ you have access to the Father and through the Spirit you get convicted of sin. Obedience to Christ is the only way to break the barrier of sin, the only way to make God priority. Again recognizing the role of the Helper, Counselor, Strengthener, Standby, Advocate, and Comforter is important. His job is to reveal Jesus to us. And we know that the Word says that the Son is the express image of the Father. ‘Go and make God priority’.

Thought: On earth we have many choices, but eternity presents only two: Heaven or Hell. Obedience to Christ must be priority if we are to make Heaven

Prayer:  Father, teach me to make You priority in my life, today and always, in Jesus Name.
