Gratitude

‘This will remind each new generation of Israelites that I made their ancestors live in shelters when I rescued them from the land of Egypt. I am the Lord your God’ Lev.23:43

The third significance  of ingathering is Gratitude. The feast of ingathering was to remind the Jews of how they dwelt in tabernacles, boots and tents when they were going from Egypt to the Promised Land. For some of us God is going to put an end to the pain we are experiencing forever but God does not want you to forget. In fact I am certain that for some people, the only reason the pain is persisting is because God wants you to assure Him that you will not forget. ‘Remember the wonders he has performed, his miracles, and the rulings he has given1 Chronicles 16:12. God never ever wants us to forget where He has taken us from and that is the basis for thanksgiving and gratitude. One of the greatest strengths of the United States that a lot of people fail to realize is thanksgiving. A nation sets aside one day, shuts down everything and just says thank you to God. You need to set aside days dedicated to thanksgiving. Gratitude is so important. When it is time to thank God, be like David and actually dance before God to express your gratitude. One of the reasons God doesn’t want us to forget is primarily for us to say thank you and be grateful. The second reason is that He is saying ‘I brought you out of Egypt; I can bring you out of any bondage’. He does not want you to forget the battles He has brought you through. God is saying never forget because He that did that for you in the past has no troubles delivering you today.  David came before goliath and it was his unforgotten past that brought him to victory. Because that same God that dealt with the bear and the lion brought down goliath. The reason a lot of us are frightened today is because we have forgotten what God has done. God is saying to you, do not forget, He dealt with those issues then, He will deal with them today because He is God. Make today a day of remembrance of what God did in the past and picture what is before you and say to God, You will do this also.

Prayer [song]: Father in Heaven, I adore You. I lift Your Name in all the earth. May Your Kingdom be established in my praises. And as Your people we declare Your mighty works. Blessed be the Lord God Almighty, who was and is and is to come. Blessed be the Lord God Almighty, who reigns forever more.
