Enduring Submission
‘Relish life with the spouse you love each and every day of your precarious life. Each day is God’s gift. It’s all you get in exchange for the hard work of staying alive. Make the most of each one!’ Ecc.9:9 [MSG]
Love is a bold line you can draw through the life of Jesus Christ. The bold line of love is visible still at His death and resurrection. Jesus is all about Love. It was not the nails that kept Jesus on the cross, it was love. God expects us to walk in this same depth of love. Napoleon said “I know men and I tell you that Jesus Christ is no mere man. Between Him and every other person in the world there is no possible term of comparison. Alexander, Caesar, Charlemagne, and I have founded empires. But on what did we rest the creation of our genius? Upon force. Jesus Christ founded His Empire upon love; and at this hour millions of men would die for Him’. Jesus loved people and they willingly submitted to Him [Luke 7:36-50; John 8:1-11]. This is why Jesus says, ‘husbands love your wives even as Christ loved the Church and gave His live for it’. Husbands want to command submission. Sometimes, they get away with forcing the spouse to submit. The truth is that this kind of submission really does not endure and in many cases can even lead to rebellion. Enduring submission is that which is triggered out of love. If you thoroughly love your wife and she can testify to the love, you will have no issues with rebellion. None what so ever! In fact she will be your greatest supporter and armor bearer. She will instinctively tear down any kind of opposition that she spots heading in your direction. Love your spouse to submission, endearing submission. Check, every life that Jesus touched in several accounts of the Bible, each one wanted to follow Him. Mary Magdalene for one submitted her life and resources to Jesus after she encountered a love that never condemns.
Prayer: Lord Jesus, teach me how to love like You require. Teach me to love people and show it. Fill my life, thoughts, words and actions with Your abounding love, in Jesus Name
