Mind My Own Business I
‘The light of the body is the eye: if therefore thine eye be single, thy whole body shall be full of light’ Matt.6:22[KJV]
The third thing we have to reinforce or learn this year is that my job is to mind my own business. I am to mind my own business and you are to mind your own business. God is going to be doing amazing things in peoples lives. Thank God for what He is doing but focus on your own because God is going to be doing great things in your life too. Do not get carried away. Things are going to happen very rapidly and it is easy to get distracted but mind your own business. ‘Watch your own market’ [translated]. You will be amazed at the things God will do, the focus that your life will get, and the vision that will be revealed to you just because you are minding your business. ‘…if therefore thine eye be single…’ If you are focused on your own assignment, if you are running your own race, you cannot run another persons race. My grandmother would say that you can’t be looking at another person’s wristwatch to determine the timing of your own life. Everyone has his/her own timing. You mind your own business. Some of us need to make a note of this and put it before us as a reminder through out this year. The major challenge for a lot of lives, the reason they have not really grasped what God wants them to grasp is because of this same simple fact of not minding their own business. If you will make up your mind as a Life Group leader for example that by God’s grace the people that God has brought into your Life group, you are going to nurture them, pray over them, and fight anyone who wants to them with everything you have spiritually, physically, and emotionally. That is minding your own business. Once you are minding your business, you have assurance in God that whatever comes against your business you are equipped to destroy. And God will begin to enlarge your coast and make the whole nation your business like the case of David [1 Sam.17].
Prayer: Father, help me keep my focus on the things You have set before me this year. I ask for the grace to mind my own business this year, in Jesus Name.
