Only The Works Of My Hands II
‘The lazy person claims, there’s a lion out there! If I go outside, I might be killed!’ Prov.22:13.
The lazy person is a manufacturer of excuses. ‘The lazy person claims, there’s a lion out there! If I go outside, I might be killed!’ In other words if you tell the person to go out you are trying to kill the person. God says don’t be afraid of the people that can only kill the body and cannot touch your soul. If you are being threatened then protect yourself. The reason God wrote the story of Cain and Abel in the Bible is to teach those of us that are Abel’s that He has accepted and will accept our sacrifices and bless us. Also, there are Cain’s out there that will want to lure us to the field. Since we are to learn from their examples, when a Cain tells me to come to the field what should I do? I will protect myself. It will be foolishness for there to be the story of Cain and Abel in the Bible and for Cain to still kill you. So we have to understand that God will bless the works of our hands. Someone says ‘I only work three hours a day and I have a lot of money’. Imagine what God will do through you if you worked more. The money is not really about you, it is about what God wants to do with you. So if you are working just to sustain yourself then you really have not understood the picture of what God wants to do. ‘Lazy people take food in their hand [which means God provides for them] but don’t even lift it to their mouth’ Prov.19:24. To use their hand to put the food in their mouths inconveniences them. God has provided the needed but to consume it has now become a problem. You will not be lazy this year in the mighty Name of Jesus. ‘Despite their desires, the lazy will come to ruin, for their hands refuse to work’ Prov.21:25. These people are not visionless people; it is not as though they do not have a passion but ‘their hands refuse to work’. Your hands will not refuse to work in the Name of Jesus. These scriptures set me free from laziness. Every body has a potential to be lazy. Every time I want to sleep a little extra and I remember these scriptures I jump up because I do not want poverty. The truth is that scriptures are there to instruct, to guide, and to direct us.
Prayer: Father, help me flush out every trace of laziness from my system and be diligent at the works of my hands, in Jesus Name.
