Make God Priority II
‘Seek the Kingdom of Godabove all else, and live righteously, and he will give you everything you need’ Matt.6: 33.
God is saying the unbeliever is troubled about what he will eat and drink but you don’t worry about that. Concentrate your efforts instead on making God and the things of God priority and He will ensure that all your needs are met. You cannot spend two hours watching TV, spend two minutes reading your Bible, and then expect life to change. Yet you are wondering why your marriage is the way it is, why is your character the way it is, how come I am the way I am? How come things are not changing? Check your priorities. When you truly make God priority, your life will tell the story. I am saying put a commensurate effort or slightly more in your spiritual development. I want to challenge you today to say to yourself ‘the number of hours I spend watching TV, I will spend reading my Bible and praying’. Your life will change – believe me it is a guarantee. For some of us it is not TV but rather games or our mobile devices. For all the hours you spend on your Blackberry, purpose today to spend it reading your Bible and praying and you will experience unprecedented life change. You know why because God is not mocked. ‘Don’t be misled—you cannot mock the justice of God. You will always harvest what you plant’ Gal.6:7. Whatever a man sows that shall he reap –simple! You cannot sow cassava and at harvest time expect to reap cocoyam. You cannot waste your time on things that are time sapping and then the things that will change your life, you do not invest your time in them. So this year you have to say ‘I have to make God priority’ and outline practical steps to take in that direction. Then talk to God about the steps and ask Him to help you. The truth is that for many of us, in the lives we live, God is not priority. One moment we purpose to make God priority but as soon as that friend shows up we get swept off our feet and back into that mess. God can empower you today to live for Him and make Him priority, if only you will ask.
Prayer: Father, I ask that this year above all else You will empower me to live for You and make You priority in every area of my life, in Jesus Name.
