How to be Spiritually Rich VII

‘To those who use well what they are given, even more will be given, and they will have an abundance. But from those who do nothing, even what little they have will be taken away’ Matt.25:29.

Lesson 5 (contd.): Form the habit of obeying God immediately. This is the key to spiritual wealth. You need to form the habit of obeying anything that God tells you immediately. This is not something that comes naturally to everyone. As humans we are prone to doing things or wanting our own way. Yet obeying God many times means letting go of your own way for His own.  Again, not according to your timing but His timing. Your first response should be ‘yes Lord, I am going to do it’. This is my policy by God’s grace. I had a personal experience that even I am humbled to share with you. I was having a prayer walk one day around the estate where I live and God instructed me to do something. My response was ‘alright Lord, I will get around to doing it’. And God said to me ‘when do you begin to getting round to doing what I tell you to do?’ I immediately said ‘I am sorry Sir, I am going to do it beginning from now’. I was ashamed and I questioned when I became like that. Many times you need to watch your heart. The Bible says ‘let him that thinks he stand take heed lest he falls’. Obedience must be instant. Delayed obedience is disobedience. God tells you to do something and your response is that you will think about it? Who are you to be thinking about what the God of all creation tells you to do? You must be very strong, very big, and very important. The truth is that these little things add up. It is these little acts of obedience that add up and God begins to say ‘I can trust this person’. Or He begins to say, ‘I cannot really trust this person’. When push comes to shove you cannot be caught napping like the servant. ‘But the master replied, ‘You wicked and lazy servant! If you knew I harvested crops I didn’t plant and gathered crops I didn’t cultivate, why didn’t you deposit my money in the bank? At least I could have gotten some interest on it.’ Then he ordered, ‘Take the money from this servant, and give it to the one with the ten bags of silver’ Matt.25:26-28. Research states that it takes 28days to form a habit. When you hear God’s voice do not harden your heart, obey immediately.

Prayer: Father, I ask for the grace and wisdom to obey you immediately and instinctively in Jesus Name.
