New Life Instructions I

Rom.12:2 “Don’t copy the behaviour and customs of this world, but let God transform you into a new person by changing the way you think. Then you will learn to know God’s will for you, which is good and pleasing and perfect.”

True righteousness and holiness flow from a renewed mind and a renewed attitude by God’s Spirit. However, God gave us some clear pointers on how this new life should be. Which we have called New Life Instructions.

#1: Eph.4:25 “So stop telling lies. Let us tell our neighbours the truth, for we are all part of the same body” (emphasis added). Stop telling lies! Whether the lie is white, or pink, or blue, as long as it has the word lie attached to it, it is a lie. God says, stop telling lies. It is just like a parent talking to a child. I am sure every parent reading this and has a child or children above the age of three have had to tell their child or children to stop telling lies. If you have never told your child to stop telling lies, then you have given birth to Jesus. The truth is, it is human nature not to take responsibility, or to want to look good, and thus end up telling lies. God says, stop telling lies.

#2: Eph.4:26-27 “And “don’t sin by letting anger control you.” Don’t let the sun go down while you are still angry, for anger gives a foothold to the devil” (emphasis added). A lot of people like to reference this scripture, they say even the Bible says ‘be angry’. That is erroneous, the Bible did not say be angry, the Bible says ‘be angry but sin not’. When you reference scripture, ensure you complete it. The Bible says, “Don’t let the sun go down while you are still angry…” So, I am encouraging couples not to let the sun go down while you are still angry, tackle issues! Why? “…anger gives a foothold to the devil”. In other words, anger opens the door for the devil.

#3: Eph.4:28 “If you are a thief, quit stealing…” (emphasis added). If you are a fraudster, quit, stop doing 419! Stop it; that is what the Bible is saying. It is in the Bible! “Instead, use your hands for good hard work…” In other words, if there is good work, then it means there is bad work. “…and then give generously to others in need.” In other words, when you begin to do good works, God is going bless you in such a way that it will be more than enough for you and you will still have enough to bless other people.

#4: Eph.4:29 “Don’t use foul or abusive language. Let everything you say be good and helpful, so that your words will be an encouragement to those who hear them” (emphasis added).

Prayer: Holy Spirit, I open my life to You and the transforming power of Your Word. Lord, transform me into a new person by changing the way I think, in Jesus Name. Amen!
