Distribute Wealth
‘And I’ll say to myself, You have plenty of grain laid up for many years. Take life easy; eat, drink and be merry’ Luke 12:19.
A lot of people are quick to lay claims to the money that God has provided – ‘it is my money I can spend it the way I want’. Really? If you insist, go ahead and spend it but you cannot determine what God will do next. So you better spend it wisely. The man in the parable that Jesus told [Luke 12:16-21] decided that he was going to increase his barn but he could not determine what God would do next. I will share the story of Rick Warren, the author of the book Purpose Driven Life with you. The book sold over 30million copies in print. In fact the publisher said that apart from the Bible, this book was the fastest selling book in the history of man. You must ask yourself, whose idea was it for the book and who brought the increase? If you can keep that in front of you perhaps you would not take the steps the man in the parable took. When the increase came, Rick Warren and his wife did not increase their standard of living. He was still driving the same car, living in the same house, and wearing the same shirts and $20 watch. Rick Warren however chose to pay his church back all the salary they had paid him for the past 30years. And then used the remaining money for what God required of him at the time. That is someone that is in control of wealth. Can God trust you like that? Think about it. That is the kind of trust God wants to have for you. For the man in the Bible story God responded to him the way he responded to the increase [read Luke 12:20-21]. Sadly, many of us do not even have the money yet but our plan is to oppress people as soon as it comes. There are people who look forward to December only because they want to show off. How do you think God will respond? To grow financial roots we need to change our perspective. We are to distribute wealth. Say it out loud to your self ‘I am a channel of blessing’. You must understand this and once you do, you will be fine. You will notice that wealth will come your way effortlessly.
Prayer: Father, I pray that You will never give me up to my own heart’s lust. Teach my heart never to forget that You alone are my source, in Jesus Name.
