The Same

‘Jesus Christ is the same yesterday, today, and forever’ Heb.13:8

Jesus the express image of the invisible God rode into Jerusalem. There was so much celebration and people were laying down their cloths. However, way back, an event took place that can be likened to the one that took place in Jerusalem at the time of Jesus. There was a time when the Jews went to battle carrying the ark of God. The ark of God signifies the manifest presence of God amongst His people. Yet today Jesus says ‘where two or three are gathered together in My Name there I am in their midst’. They carried the ark to battle and the ark was captured, imagine God being captured. The philistines captured the ark and put the ark with their god dagon and went to sleep. By the time they came back, dagon was bowing down flat before the ark of God. They looked around, the windows were shut and the doors were locked. So they brought dagon back up, their thoughts were after all he is a god and you are a God. Jehovah says ‘no, I Am God alone, by Myself’. By the time they came back dagon was not only lying face down, its hands and head had been chopped off. God can fight for Himself! When they discovered this they were certain that the God of the Jews had come to cause problems and true to their speculations God began to deal with them. God dealt with the five gods and five princes of the philistines, and the whole nation. Consultation revealed that the ark that they had carried was a grave mistake. They were advised to take it back but with a sin offering – an apology offering expressing remorse. What is the challenge that you are faced with or who are the people who have vowed to oppose you? Turn it over to God and watch Him crush it like He did with dagon. God is the same yesterday, today, and forever. You need to know that God can fight for Himself and as long as you dwell within His secret place, you fall under the territory that He will protect. He is God all by Himself. When God restores you, those same people will come back to plead with you. Remember, the victory is God’s.

Prayer: Father, hide me in the secrecy of Your presence and defend me with Your right arm all the days of my life, in Jesus Name.

  1. Looking at this, what is reinforced in my mind is that God is indeed the same! He that fought and won those great battles of old is the same God that we serve today. If you find it difficult to believe God for things to come then look at what He has done in the past and just praise Him. Our God is indeed Great! About the rod of Aaron, He said it will bud but in establishment, it did more than bud – it produced shoot and fruit! Lord I praise You for Your works past and i know You will go beyond in establishment in my life, in Jesus Name. Amen!

  2. The manifest presence of God is no longer in a box, it is inside of us the Children of the most High God. Therefore, like dagon, everyone, systems that operate a lesser God should fall flat to the Supremacy of God in you. The same manifest presence of God that was in that ark is still the same presence that is in us, nothing should stand against us.

  3. God is truly the same yesterday, today and forever. As believers, we need to know that it’s not about our physical being but about the presence of God that we carry. The philistines saw the Israelites as physical beings and that was why they captured the Ark of Covenant.
People need to see us and say that they have seen Jesus! Our enemies may think that they have won but God is set to chop off their arms and head because nobody can capture God as we can see that He cut off the arms and head of Dagon.
Just remain in the secrecy of God’s presence and watch Him fight for you in Jesus name amen!

  4. Knowing God is the same, is trusting God to do what says he will do. And leaving it solely and totally in His capable hands. How ‘It’ will be done, when ‘It’ will be done, or through whom ‘It’ will be done, is not for us to find out, know or even try and do. We forget that we had nothing to do with what God has been doing in our lives all along. So we trust and have faith that the God that did it then is the same now and forever. Hallelujah!!!
