He Sees, He Knows, & He Rewards

‘But as for you, be strong and courageous, for your work will be rewarded’ 2 Chr.15:7

After the ark returned to the Jews, about seventy men decided they wanted to see what was inside it. So they opened it and God killed all seventy of them. So the ark was relegated through the time of Samuel and Saul until David’s time. True to how God described him ‘a man after My heart’. David said ‘how can the ark of God be relegated’. So he decided to bring the ark of God to the city of David. So they put the ark on a cart. Meanwhile the place they relegated the ark to was the house of Abinadab, the father of Uzzah. While the ark was there the ark was gathering dust, nobody was worshipping God. Uzzah was misbehaving and God was watching. You cannot disregard God in private and pretend to honor Him in public. While the ark was going on a cart, it was as though God was saying ‘I should not just go without dealing with Uzzah’. So the oxen stumbled and Uzzah as a ‘custodian’ put forward his hand to steady the ark and God killed him. God killed him to make a point – God must be honored. You can play with many things but please do not play with God. If you do something wrong and God deals with you immediately, you should be very happy. But if you are in the habit doing wrong and it is as if God is not saying anything, you should be very afraid because just one small thing can cause death. David decided the timing was not right so he made Obed-edom the new ‘custodian’ of the ark. When Obed-edom rises and before he goes to sleep, he will go to the ark [God’s presence] and worship. And God was pleased with him and choose to bless him. God began to bless his house and everyone in it because they were giving God His due. People think that it was just because the ark was in the house of Obed-edom that is why he was blessed. Wasn’t the ark in the house of Abinadab and God killed his son? Obed-edom paid homage consistently before the ark and God blessed him so much the king was jealous. Is your Bible gathering dust? Or have you buried the talent the Master gave you? Remember, God must be honored.

Thought: Let today be a turning point, a turning point from dead works to honoring God.

Prayer: ‘Jesus must be honored, must be honored (2x). Jesus must be honored in my life everyday’. Lord accept this song as a renewal of my commitment to honor You, in Jesus Name.

  1. God cannot be mocked. You just cannot dishonor God in your room and display “spiritual king kong” outside. God will deal with you and you will be exposed to other forces as well. If you are for God, be fully for God in secret and in open. That way, God Himself will honor you.

  2. He sees, He knows, & He rewards is So related to one of the points Dr Okey Onuzo pointed out over the 3 days Easter programme. Many Christians live hypocritical or dual lives. Portraying one thing in Church and another at home, work and in their social settings. It’s as if they believe God is only present when the Pastor or Church members see them. In this devotional, We are reminded that God sees all thing no matter where it is done, God knows all about us as He knew us before we were formed in our mothers womb, so there is no point in trying to suppress talents and gifts we are born with, & God always rewards when you deliver what is worthy, & He is not referring to the things you do for others to see at Church, but the things you do that glorifies Him.

  3. Wow! What a truly awesome God we worship. He always backs his word up:

*whom He loves, He chastises -“If you do something wrong and God deals with you immediately, you should be very happy.” This is a good check for us.
*What is that thing God has put in your hands? what is that talent, hidden treasure or spiritual gift you have been armed with? ARE you deploying it for God’s glory? OR have you become so familiar with the Lion of Judah that you do not regard Him in private?- “While the ark was there the ark was gathering dust, nobody was worshipping God.” Abinadab had the Ark (presence of God) in the privacy of his abode but he did not honour there. What is worship, if not deploying your all for Him who gave His all?

  4. Remember what it says: “Today when you hear his voice, don’t harden your hearts as Israel did when they rebelled.” (Hebrews 3:15 NLT)
