Faith Is… III

‘It was by faith that Noah build a large boat to save his family from the flood. He obeyed God, who warned him about things that had never happened before’ Heb.11:7a

Abraham was about to retire and God said to him ‘pack your bags I am leading you to a land’. ‘Which land?’ He asked. God says ‘don’t worry’, I will show you when we get there’. So Abraham began to pack his bags and his family members ask, ‘AB where are you going?’ And Abraham says ‘I am going to a place, God is going to give me an inheritance, a land’. ‘Really, AB which land is that?’ they ask and he says ‘I don’t know yet but I am going’. They probably said amongst themselves ‘it is confirmed, AB has lost it. We knew there was something wrong with him before but now we are sure’.

God said to Noah ‘go and build an ark’. Noah says ‘alright Lord I will but what is it for?’. God says ‘there is going to be a flood’. By that time there was no rain on earth, the Bible says that mist was keeping the grass green. Noah said ‘flood, what is a flood Lord?’ And God says ‘a flood happens when it rains and the rate of downpour is greater then the rate of dissipation’. Still puzzled but trying not to sound rude Noah asks ‘what is rain Lord?’. The truth is that Noah did not know what rain was. And God says ‘rain is when water pours from heavens’.  ‘Really, water from heaven?’ Noah still puzzled but begins to build anyway. And the people ask Noah ‘what are you doing?’ He replies ‘I am building an ark’. They say ‘who told you to build an ark?’ Noah replies ‘God told me to build an ark’. By this time they are probably giving each other side glances confirming the earlier speculation that Noah has lost his mind. ‘God told you to build an ark, why?’ they ask, Noah says ‘there is going to be heavy rain and a mighty flood’. ‘Rain, flood – Noah you are crazy!’ ‘By his faith Noah condemned the rest of the world, and he received the righteousness that comes by faith’ Heb.11:7b. God also counted Abraham’s actions as righteousness. You do not have to understand it to obey it. Faith is obeying even when you don’t understand it.

Prayer: Father, help me live by faith just like Abraham did. Help me act in faith just like Noah did. And help me speak in Faith just like Jesus did, in Jesus Name.
