Met In Him
Heb. 10:23 “Let us hold tightly without wavering to the hope we affirm, for God can be trusted to keep his promise.”
Do you believe that the Lord will do what He has said? Elizabeth said something that is hugely profound to Mary in Luke 1:45 “You are blessed because you believed that the Lord would do what he said.” (emphasis added). Again, I ask, do you believe that the Lord will do what He has said He will do? If you believe that the Lord will do what He has said, then you are blessed. David puts it this way in Ps. 56:3-4 “But when I am afraid, I will put my trust in you. I praise God for what he has promised. I trust in God, so why should I be afraid…” (emphasis added). In other words, ‘When I am afraid, I put my trust in God. And when I trust in God, I am not afraid! I praise him for what he has promised’. Heb. 10:23 “Let us hold tightly without wavering to the hope we affirm, for God can be trusted to keep his promise.” God can be trusted to keep His promise.
When I am afraid, I put my trust in God, I completely surrender to Him, I do not listen to the voices of fear, and I sing of His goodness. But guess what? When I trust in Him my fear goes. I am no longer afraid because I praise Him for what He has promised me. Where is your trust? God wants you to put your trust in Him, in His promises, in what He has said concerning you. That is where your trust should be because Jesus came to take care of your fears and to fulfil your hopes and mine. Is it the fear of inadequacy or the fear of disapproval that you face? Is it the fear of sudden change or fear of losing control? Are you insecure or battling with the fear of being disappointed? Remember that the way to defeat and overcome fears is to surrender completely to God. The only person that did not hear ‘fear not‘ was an arrogant king. The only person that did not have a song was the arrogant king Herod. Are you going to be like Mary or are you going to be like Herod, what is it going to be?
If you have not completely surrendered your life to Jesus, the keyword here is completely, there is no time like now. What better gift to give to the birthday boy than the life He died to save? As you step towards Jesus and surrender to Him, I pray that God will draw you unto Himself, He will cleanse you and change your life. And you will experience the joy of Christmas Himself, in Jesus’ Name. And for all of us reading today, I pray that God will give us the grace to hear Him say fear not and that fear not will saturate our beings in Jesus’ Name. I pray that God will put a song in our mouths like He did for Mary, Joseph, the shepherds, Zechariah, Elizabeth. I pray that arrogance will not be found in us to the praise and glory of God’s Holy Name. Amen
Prayer [Hymn]: O little town of Bethlehem, how still we see thee lie; above thy deep and dreamless sleep the silent stars go by: yet in thy dark streets shineth the everlasting Light;
the hopes and fears of all the years are met in thee tonight.
the hopes and fears of all the years are met in thee tonight.
