Not Without Commitment
‘He always stands by his covenant— the commitment he made to a thousand generations’ Ps.105:8.
To make progress in any endeavor, you have to be committed. Without commitment, there can never be progress. The truth is that nothing happens outside commitment. In order to make progress in any area of your life you require commitment. If you do not commit to your education, you cannot go anywhere no matter how much your family invests. As a young man if you do not commit to the woman you love that relationship cannot go anywhere. If you are a young man interested in a lady and she is still keeping contact with three or two or even one other guy as a back up plan, then please show her the door because she is just wasting your time. If you are a young lady seeing a guy and after six months to a year he is not committed then kick him out because he is jut wasting your time. If you don’t, you will cry at the end of the day. If someone does not commit, no matter how much the person claims to be in love with you, the person cannot make progress with you. Similarly, how we grow spiritually is by commitment. If you do not commit to spiritual growth it just cannot happen. God expects commitment from us in our walk with Him. In the church family you need to be committed to grow. Some people do not even know that God expects us to grow in the church family. The truth is that He does. It is only commitment that can move you from the community, to the crowd, to the congregation, then to the committed, and into the core. The difference between people in the crowd and people in the congregation is commitment. The difference between people in the committed and people in the core is commitment. If you don’t commit you cannot make progress. If you don’t commit nothing happens. And guess what, every stage in life requires a new level of commitment because the journey of life is unending. As children of God we must look to the Holy Spirit to teach us and ground us in commitment. He alone is able to sustain you in the commitments you make. Verbalizing commitment and embodying commitment are two different things; this is why we need the Holy Spirit.
Prayer: Precious Spirit of God, I ask that You teach me, grow me, and sustain me in the commitments I have made to man and to God, in Jesus Name.
