Love And Obedience
‘And what do you benefit if you gain the whole world but lose your own soul? Is anything worth more than your soul?’ Matt. 16:26.
Knowing God is learning and understanding the things that He approves of and the things that don’t please Him. Loving God is moving beyond the afore mentioned into doing the things that please the Father. Jesus says ‘if you love me, obey my commandments’. John 14:15. So when a young lady comes to me and says she has been living with a man for five years and this man has paid her school fees. The first question is ‘do you really know the Father?’ Why would you be living with any man who you are not married to? You should not be in that house, please pack your stuff and go back to your family house. Then she goes on to say that she has completed her course and her family is pressuring her about getting married. So she has approached this same man and he says he is not ready and does not have the money for marriage yet. You need to know that a man is like a hunter, if he has a target, he will get it [Prov.18:22]. A lion in a cage is no longer a target. Why pay for a cow if you can get the milk for free? Go back to your parents and you will be shocked how fast he will raise the money and come asking to marry you. And if perhaps he is still slow in coming then you might just want to ask God if the man is your choice. In actual sense, this should have been your first question if you have done things the scriptural way. Maybe God will bring someone else that is your husband after all you are not married to him yet. So he paid for your first degree, God will bless him. Then she goes on to say that this same man has asked her to stay so that he can pay for her next level of education. It took him five years to put you through the first level, how long do you think it will take him to put you through the next level? What if at the end he says to you that he has found a wife? He expects you to be grateful after all he put you through school. If you sleep with a man you are loosing your soul. If he gives you the whole world it still doesn’t compare to what you are loosing. So do the right thing and trust God. If you need help then please go in for counseling.
Thought: What else is worth giving your soul to except Jesus Christ? What earthly position equals your soul?
