The Walk
Isaiah 60:19-20 “No longer will you need the sun or moon to give you light, for the Lord your God will be your everlasting light, and he will be your glory. Your sun shall never set; the moon shall not go down—for the Lord will be your everlasting light; your days of mourning all will end.” (LB)
Genesis 32:31 “The sun rose above him as he passed Peniel, and he was limping because of his hip.” (NIV). “The sun rose above him…”, this is so huge! God dislocated Jacob’s hip and he limped for the rest of his life. Jacob was given a reminder for the rest of his life so he will never forget Who is in charge. To walk in the blessing, you need to have gone through phases one to four, where you will never forget that God is in charge. That is when you begin to walk in the blessing. Amazing! So, Jacob limped for the rest of his life, a constant reminder of Who is Boss. Secondly, Jacob could not run anymore. You cannot run with a limp.
God dislocated his hip so he could not run anymore. You can never solve any problem by running from it. You can never progress in life by running from pillar to post when you encounter a challenge. Stay, and you face the ‘Esau’. But you will discover that ‘Esau’ is not your problem, God is. Jacob was given a limp as a sign, a constant reminder of Who is in charge. Jacob was given a limp so that he could not run anymore. And thirdly, Jacob was given a limp so he could not walk straight anymore. And guess what? It was God who gave him that limp. Jacob could no longer walk straight on the outside so that he could be legit on the inside. Jacob could not walk straight on the outside so that his ways could be pure on the inside.
Jacob’s walk was crooked on the outside so that his heart could be straight on the inside. Jacob never walked the same again. Pastor, how do I walk in God’s blessings? You walk in God’s blessings by walking on a limp and this is so, so huge. You walk in God’s blessings by walking on a limp. And you can relax in God’s arms and grace. Most times, we want to get rid of the limp. But God says, it is okay. Walk with the limp, you are blessed. This is big because the limp tells the story of a man who has passed through the Crisis, demonstrated Commitment, went through Confession, and came to Conversion. A man that is truly blessed by God.
Do you want to be truly blessed by God? Do you want to be truly anointed of God? Check everyone that is genuinely anointed of God, they are walking on a limp. God blesses, He breaks before He multiplies. Most times, people receive the blessing, but they do not go through the breaking. So, they are not walking in the blessing and the multiplication of the blessing. Lockdown, wrestle with God. Allow God’s work of cleansing to be done in your heart.
Prayer (hymn): All to Jesus I surrender. Lord, I give myself to Thee. Fill me with Thy love and power. Let Thy blessing fall on me. I surrender all, I surrender all… Amen!
