1 Peter 3:¹⁰ “For the Scriptures say, “If you want to enjoy life and see many happy days, keep your tongue from speaking evil and your lips from telling lies.” (emphasis added).

To put your Two Hands On The Steering Wheel means that you need to take ownership and control of your life. And to get full ownership and control of your life, I recommend that you read the book titled “WINNING: Gaining And Sustaining Victory In The Battles Of Life” by Femi Monehin. It will change your life. You are the general of your life, so take control. And one way of taking control, which may be counter intuitive, is you take control of your world by giving control away.  We have talked about doing what only you can do, being accountable in a community, and being in a relationship with God—you gain control by giving control away to Him that is higher than you. It is a mystery but that is how we take control.

Another way to gain control is, you take control of your world by taking control of your words. James 3:^{4-5 & 11-12} “Or think of a ship: big as it is and driven by such strong winds, it can be steered by a very small rudder, and it goes wherever the pilot wants it to go. So it is with the tongue: small as it is, it can boast about great things. Just think how large a forest can be set on fire by a tiny flame! …No spring of water pours out sweet water and bitter water from the same opening.  A fig tree, my friends, cannot bear olives; a grapevine cannot bear figs, nor can a salty spring produce sweet water.” (GNT). The Bible says that the tongue is the steering wheel of your life. If you want to steer your life, have traction, and gain control of your life, then gain control of your tongue.

Imagine driving an eighteen-wheeler, once you turn the steering wheel the entire vehicle will turn. That is how powerful your tongue is; small as it is, the Bible says, it can boast about great things. This scripture is also saying that your tongue should always produce life, your tongue should always give life. Your tongue cannot be giving life and giving death. Your tongue cannot be praising God and spreading rumours. Your tongue is the steering wheel of your life, so put your two hands on the steering wheel. God is saying, if you can get a grip of your tongue (the steering wheel), you can get a grip of your life.

I pray that you will have a good grip of The Way, and nothing will be able to separate you from God’s love in Christ Jesus. I pray that you will receive the grace to control your speed, and the grace to slow down and live a full life. I pray that God will strengthen your two hands on the steering wheel to control your life. The grace to take ownership and take control of your tongue God will give unto you in the Mighty Name of Jesus.
