Prepare

Psalm 27:8 “My heart has heard you say, “Come and talk with me.” And my heart responds, “Lord, I am coming.”

It is a new season, and we are excited about all that God has in store for us. I want you to prepare your heart for higher ground. Our text over the next few days is Exodus 19:1-12 (please read). I want you to imagine that the President of the most powerful nation in the world is coming to your country. He has chosen to visit one house, your house for lunch. What is going to happen? I am sure you will start cleaning the house and preparing the meal he will eat. You most likely would want him to have your favourite dish, right? And for the best presentation, you would bring out the best cutlery sets, plates, glasses, and all the works. Simply put, you will prepare.

Now imagine the Person who created the whole world including the president of the most powerful nation in the world. The One who can snap His finger, and everyone is gone. The Maker of the heavens and the earth is coming to visit you. He is coming to spend time with you. What would you do? That is what we see play out in Exodus 19Exodus 19:10 Then the Lord told Moses, “Go down and prepare the people for my arrival” (emphasis added). God is saying to us this season, like He said to Israel through Moses, ‘prepare for My arrival.’

In their case, they stood at the foot of Mount Sinai, and there was a barricade around. They were not allowed to go near the mountain. In fact, if they break the barrier, they will die on the spot. But in our case, God is saying, come up higher, come up to higher ground. Revelations 4:1 Then as I looked, I saw a door standing open in heaven, and the same voice I had heard before spoke to me like a trumpet blast. The voice said, “Come up here, and I will show you what must happen after this.” God is saying to us, ‘Come to this mountain. Climb up to higher ground. Come and meet with Me, and experience Me. I am waiting. I am visiting. I am pouring Myself out. Come up higher.’ Hebrews 12:18, 22-24. “You have not come to a physical mountain, to a place of flaming fire, darkness, gloom, and whirlwind, as the Israelites did at Mount Sinai… No, you have come to Mount Zion, to the city of the living God, the heavenly Jerusalem, and countless thousands of angels in a joyful gathering. You have come to the assembly of God’s firstborn children, whose names are written in heaven. You have come to God himself, who is the judge over all things. You have come to the spirits of the righteous ones in heaven who have now been made perfect. You have come to Jesus, the one who mediates the new covenant between God and people, and to the sprinkled blood, which speaks of forgiveness instead of crying out for vengeance like the blood of Abel.”

Prayer: Father, prepare my heart for all that You are doing this season, in Jesus Name. Amen!
