Cherished & Chosen
Psalm 40:2-3 “He lifted me out of the pit of despair, out of the mud and the mire. He set my feet on solid ground and steadied me as I walked along. He has given me a new song to sing, a hymn of praise to our God. Many will see what he has done and be amazed…”
By the grace of God, after at least twenty-six years of walking with God, I can say to you that I have not always been able to understand what God is up to. But I have always seen Him faithful. In all my decades of walking with God, I cannot say I always understand everything that He does because many times, I do not. But when I look back, I see that God is always faithful. You will look back and say, God is faithful. You will look at your life and you will say, God is faithful. In fact, I want to challenge you to take a sheet of paper or your journal and list God’s faithfulness to you. Write down as many as you can remember, and you will see that God is indeed faithful.
#2. LOOK AHEAD – Celebrate Your FUTURE. After you have looked back and remembered God’s faithfulness, look ahead and celebrate your future. Exodus 19:5-6 “Now if you will obey me and keep my covenant, you will be my own special treasure from among all the peoples on earth; for all the earth belongs to me. And you will be my kingdom of priests…” (emphasis added). God is saying that you are, and you will be a cherished possession and a chosen priest. I want you to say out loud, ‘I am a cherished possession. I am a chosen priest’. Exodus 19:1 “Exactly two months after the Israelites left Egypt…” (emphasis added). Just sixty days ago, these people were slaves. They were nobodies, but God turned their story around.
In the Name of Jesus Christ of Nazareth, within sixty days God will turn your story around. Even beginning from now, God will turn your story around in the Mighty Name of Jesus. And in two months, just two months, they became a cherished possession and chosen priests. We need to understand that is how God sees us. It may be easy for you to look at other people and see them as chosen and cherished but dismiss yourself. Listen, God has sent me to tell you today that you, yes, you are a chosen priest, and you are a cherished possession. The story is told of a woman who lost her diamond wedding ring. In searching for it she remembered she had left it in the kitchen and figured it must have fallen into the garbage. She called the waste disposal company and tracked down the truck driver that picked up their garbage.
The driver told her he was in her area early in the morning, and it was now late in the evening. Her husband promised to buy her a new ring, but she refused. It was the ring from their wedding, and it was cherished. The lady pushed and pushed and finally got access to the dumpster. She located her bin bag and found her ring. Does your life look like a dumpster? God will find you.
Prayer: Father, I am Your chosen priest and Your cherished possession, in Jesus Name. Amen!
