Make God Happy
‘So all of us who have had that veil removed can see and reflect the glory of the Lord. And the Lord—who is the Spirit—makes us more and more like him as we are changed into his glorious image’ 2 Cor.3:18.
While praying, I often say thank you to the Lord for choosing me because I realize that in truth I could never have chosen Him. You too must understand that Jesus found you first and it was He who refused to let go. You can love Him because He first loved you. It is with this same confidence that we also as Matthew did arrange for the people in our lives to meet with Jesus knowing that He already has His eyes on them. Found people find people! Mathew arranged a dinner party. Think about it, it was a usual thing for his friends to come for dinner in his house so they did not feel threatened in any way. In fact they must have been excited about another fun evening. But there was a special guest at the table and Matthew alone knew this. So he set the table and just stepped back. For many of us this is exactly what we need to do. We cannot make anybody fall in love with Jesus but we can arrange the first, second, third, and the fourth date like Mathew did. Found people find people.
You need to thank God because you are not who you used to be. You may not yet be the perfect image of Jesus Christ but you definitely have stepped out of the miry clay. Growing people change. Nothing gives God greater joy than watching us follow Jesus. The problem with a lot of people is that they mouth their commitment to Jesus but they don’t follow Him. They say Jesus you are my Lord but I will live my life the way I want to live my life and when I plead the Blood of Jesus I’ll be fine. But some don’t do that; they don’t give God the pleasure that He should have. Therefore, the grace that can save you but is incapable of changing you is suspect. There is a celebration in heaven for every life that turns to Jesus. God wants to celebrate your every step the way parents celebrate growth stages of their children. And it gives God pleasure to see us grow as we follow Jesus. Even earthly fathers derive great pleasure from having their sons behave like them, how much more God? When we follow Jesus, growing and changing into the image of God, how happy God is!
Prayer: Father, I pray that I will be filled with the complete knowledge of Your will. Give me spiritual wisdom and understanding so that I will grow daily in Christ Jesus, in Jesus Name.
