The Fifth

2 Kings 4:7 “Then she came and told the man of God. And he said, “Go, sell the oil and pay your debt; and you and your sons live on the rest.” (NKJV)

Beginning today, we are turning our focus to Finance, the fifth “F”. It is God’s will that your family, faith, friendships, fitness, finance and farm, all work together in tandem and that you have fun in the process.

Our text remains 2 Kings 4:1-7(please read). Now, imagine how much fun this woman had at the end of the day calling up the creditor that wanted to enslave her sons and saying, “How much is your money again? Two hundred and fifty thousand dollars, right? Here is your cheque”. Imagine the joy she would have in doing life with her sons, sending them to school, and making sure they had everything they needed.

So, over the next few days, we will be delving into Finance. What got this woman to this point, what triggered this beautiful story for us, was a financial situation. It was the financial situation that the woman had that led her to Elisha. And the man of God triggered some supernatural things in her favour. I pray that your finances will receive a touch from heaven in the Name of Jesus. I pray that in the same way this woman experienced the supernatural, that in your finances you will experience the supernatural in the Mighty Name of Jesus.

We see that how limitless this woman was financially was dependent on the limits of her family, faith, friendships, fitness, and farm. How limitless she was financially depended on the limits her family put on her, the debt that almost made her lose everything. It was her faith that brought her out of the situation. If she had a limit on her faith, she would have died in that situation. It was from her friendships, through faith, that she got the vessels she needed. The number of vessels she got was directly proportional to the number of friends she had and were willing to borrow her vessels. Her fitness determined how many vessels she could carry which was tied to how much oil she could produce. And the farm, having a place of production.

In looking at finance, we are going to be differentiating finance from farm. We often lump finance and farm together, just like we lump wealth and work together. And because they are lumped together, we do not maximize the two and see how each can benefit us maximally. Your finance is the money you have, your wealth (your financial net worth) and the management of the same. The farm, on the other hand, is the main source of this money, the main source of this wealth. Everyone should have a main source of wealth. You can have several streams of income. However, mostly you will have a main source at least at the initial stage of your financial journey. And that main source is your farm.

Prayer: Father, in this season, cause my finances to flourish abundantly, in Jesus Mighty Name. Amen!
