Deuteronomy 15:6 “For the Lord your God will bless you as he has promised, and you will lend to many nations but will borrow from none. You will rule over many nations but none will rule over you.” (NIV)

We will pick up today’s devotional from our final thought yesterday which is the importance of seeing threats from a distance. Proverbs 22:3A sensible person sees danger and takes cover,

but the inexperienced keep going and are punished.” (CSB). It is not wise to wait until a creditor puts chains on your children before you know that the actions you are taking today are putting chains on them already. So many people have eaten their future. Some people have spent the house they are supposed to be living in at a Dubai shopping mall. Even the gold they bought, they were swindled, and everything is just messed up. Why? All because folks do not catch threats early. God wants you to catch threats early.

What if when the husband suggested that they borrow money to buy party clothes, she had seen the slavery of her sons in the party clothes bought with book-me-down? Book-me-down is when someone buys something without paying for it, with a promise of future payment. Catching that threat early would have solved the problem. I know folks that say, Pastor, but debt is not forbidden in the Bible. By and large, debt is actually not forbidden in the Bible, but God regulates it. In fact, God says things like after seven years, write off the debt. God tries to make life easy for people. However, God also highlights the benefits of staying out of debt.

So, at the end of the day, it becomes your choice. For instance, God says in Proverbs 22:7The rich rule over the poor, and the borrower is a slave to the lender.” (CSB). Where do you want to be, to be ruled over? What do you want to be, to be a slave? Is that what you want to be, is that what you want your children to be? Then you need to act differently. The rich and the lender deal from the position of strength all the time. While the poor and the borrower deal from a position of weakness. It is a fact. And I pray that God will give you strength financially, you will deal from a position of strength. I pray that you will be rich, you will lend to nations.

Why? It is because debt is limiting. You are as free as the margins you create, and debt erodes your margins. 2 Kings 4:7Then she came and told the man of God. And he said, Go, sell the oil, and pay thy debt, and live thou and thy children of the rest” (KJV). This is huge. Listen! Mostly, it is what you do with the proceeds of the farm that determines your financial future. And Elisha is teaching us God’s eternal principle. The first priority of your financial increase is to Get Out Of Debt! The first priority of your financial increase is to get out of debt, personal debt.

Prayer: Father, because you will bless my farm and finances, I will lend to many nations and borrow from none. I will rule over many nations, none will rule over me, in Jesus Name. Amen!
