Never!
Hebrews 13:5 “…for He [God] Himself has said, I will not in any way fail you nor give you up nor leave you without support. [I will] not, [I will] not, [I will] not in any degree leave you helpless nor forsake nor let [you] down (relax My hold on you)! [Assuredly not!]” (AMPC, emphasis added).
Yesterday, we looked at two out of three things we should know about the future. The first thing is that God KNOWS Everything That Will Happen. There is nothing happening to you that is catching God by surprise. The second thing is God’s PLAN For Your Future Is Good. God has thought more about your future than you have and you ever will. The third thing is God Will BE WITH YOU Every Step Of The Way. That is very comforting. By now, you know without an doubt that your future is bright. These are words to live by. The truth is, you may not always feel God’s presence, but God is always present.
God is not a feeling. God is a person. You may not always feel His presence, but He is always there. Hebrews 13:5-6 “Keep your lives free from the love of money and be content with what you have, because God has said, “NEVER will I leave you; NEVER will I forsake you.” So we say with confidence, “The Lord is my helper; I WILL not be afraid. What can mere mortals do to me?” (NIV, emphasis added). What does “never” mean? Never means never! Are you struggling with worry, depression, or anxiety? In my years of studying these areas as a Pastor and as a counsellor counselling people. My conclusion is that behind anxiety, worry, and every kind of distress is one thing, and that thing is fear. Check, behind every form of depression, anxiety, and hopelessness is fear.
And guess what? Every fear is a misunderstanding of who God is, what He has said about you, and what He has promised. Every fear! Every fear you are experiencing right now is a misunderstanding of who God is and what He has said. Understand this, God has said, “I will never leave you. I will never forsake you!” How comforting is that? That is big. So, if you know who God really is and you know what He really promised, you would not be afraid.
The reason you are afraid is you do not know who God really is. And I pray that God will open your eyes to see Him. As you press on in this season, soaking in God’s Word which are words to live by, God will reveal Himself to you. No wonder the Psalmist says in Psalm 46:1-2 & 5 “God is our refuge and strength, a very present help in trouble. Therefore will not we fear, though the earth be removed, and though the mountains be carried into the midst of the sea; God is in the midst of her; she shall not be moved: God shall help her, and that right early.” (KJV).
Prayer: Father, You are my refuge and strength, my very present help, in Jesus Name. Amen!
